Day 1 on my trip to wdw
My family and I got up at 4 am in the morning and left our house to Sacramento International airport to catch our flight to Los Angeles and then to Orlando. We flew on United Airlines and left to Los Angeles at 6:20.
We got in LAX around 7:40. Then we head over to our gate to catch our flight. There were a lot of people trying to get on the flight to Orlando, so we decided to take a bump and our flight to Orlando will be later tonight at 11 pm, but we got round trip airline tickets in the continental for an whole entire year and got first class seats to Chicago and then to Orlando. We also got a hotel room to stay before we head out at the Westin Hotel right next to LAX and dinner voucher tickets at the airport.
While we are here in Los Angeles, we decided to head over to Disneyland for a few hours while we are here in Los Angeles. I was so excited to go to both resorts at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort in just a few days apart from one another.
We head to the National Car Rent a Car to pick up a car just for the day and head over to Disneyland on highway 405 and then got onto Harbor Blvd to park at the Garden Walk parking lot since the others lots were full.
We got to the park around 11 am and my father used his GAD voucher to go into the park. When we got there, the park was not as bad when I read the reports from yesterday. It was busy, but not as busy as I had thought it would be since it is on a Friday. When I looked around at all the rides wait times, Space was around 55 min wait, Indy 60 min, Splash 60 min as the longest lines, while almost every other ride around the DLR was around 20 min wait on average for the other rides.
We first did Captain EO, my family was amazed to see an old classic DL attraction back in DL since they saw it in the late 80s. After EO, we head over to BLAB and got FP for the ride since it was around 25 min wait and then we head over to the Monorail and rode a round trip on Monorail Mark VII Blue in the back.
Then we got on the DLRR and rode on the Fred Gurley with the Excursion car set, while they were also running the Ernest S. Marsh with Holiday 4 and the Ward Kimball with Holiday 5 and the Lily Belle. I was hoping to get to ride in the Lily Belle, but they were not offering the ride that day. We rode around until we got to Mickeys Toontown Station and went to ride IASW.
Then we head back over to Tomorrowland and got on BLAB. We finished BLAB and head over to NOS and rode the POTC. We had to wait around 20 min to get on the ride. When it was time, we headed out of the park and got out around 4 pm and went back to LAX.
It was not bad to be in the park for just a few hours and got to do a lot of different rides in a short amount of time on a busy Spring Break Friday. It was too bad, I was hoping to stay longer and watch RDCT fireworks that night, but it was kind of fun to do DL on that day and possible do MK the next day. The park was busier than last week when I head over to DL for my business trip.
When we got back to LA, we went to our hotel that United had given us in our bump. We stayed at the Westin Hotel just a few blocks from the LAX and it was a nice room for us to relax before we left to Orlando. We got to watch the NCAA playoffs from our room until we had dinner with my dads best friend that lives in LA. He picked us up from the hotel and went to this restaurant that they have went to in the past. I was excited to go to this fancy restaurant.
We went to a restaurant called Robata-YA a Japanese restaurant in Los Angeles that serves skewers, tempura, sushi restaurant and it was good to have authentic Japanese cuisine. It was time to go back to the hotel and get ready to go to Orlando, my dads friend drop us off and got our stuff from the hotel and head back to the National Rent a Car dealership and dropped off the car.
Then we head to the LAX terminal and got back on United Airlines terminal. We just waited one hour until it was time to board our plane to Chicago. It was around 11 pm at night since we left LAX and headed to Chicago OHara International Airport. We got to ride in first class and it was a nice experience to ride in first class seats. Our plane was a Boeing 767-300 model and it was a full flight.
It took 3 and a half hours to get to Chicago and we are just waiting for our next flight to Orlando and had to wait 2 hours till our flight.
It was kind of a weird experience, my family got round trip tickets to anywhere in the U.S. and got to go to DL unexpectedly and possibly go back to WDW in December.
Pics will be posted when I get back and you can read [post=2432340]my family and I WDW trip report Mar 27 to Apr 3, 2010 [/post]. I'm posting this at my location at the Venetian Bay Resort in Kissimmee, FL just a few miles from the WDW resort.
I would like to hear from other DIS, if they have ever went to DL one day and went to WDW the following day or close inside a few days?
