Underwater Digital Camera

We just returned from DL and DCA and saw the new World of Color show. If you plan to be anywhere close to the water/show, a waterproof camera/video camera would be a GREAT idea!

I second this! Takes fun underwater videos as well and good photos. We take it to the pool, the beach, etc. Not good for indoor photos at all, but great HD video quality!

I agree...we have the playsport as well. The underwater videos and non underwater HD video are awesome...indoor photos are just ok.

another vote for an Olympus Stylus Tough. I've had one for quite a few years and slowly all of my siblings have purchased them too and love them. I have taken mine on the mountain for ski pics in the freezing cold, in the ocean, pools, waterparks and never had a problem. I routinely hand them to my kids to use without fear of breaking and am even letting my DH take it off-roading next weekend since he fell in love when it was discussed in one of his off-road mags and they dropped it in the mud and ran over it and it still worked.

Besides, if he loses or breaks the screen (like he did the last one by closing the truck door on it) then we'll replace it with the newest version. ;)

I have one of the Olympus ones and it works fine. I use my dSLR for my regular shots, just use the Olympus for water stuff. I guess I got lucky, sounds like peopl ehave had bad luck with the Olympus!

Both were taken off the Massachusetts coast where the water isn't as clear either. well usually not so clear.

Also, a shot while driving home from Six Gun City with the same camera (Olympus Stylus 770SW- before they had tough in the name) The car was moving when I took this. I wasn't driving...

I have a Pentax Optio camera. I haven't had the opportunity to use it as a nice beach (around here the water is very dark, so the pictures don't turn out well), but I've used it outside at the pool and the quality seems pretty good.

I don't think it's very expensive, maybe less than 200$? I won it in a photo contest, so I really don't know!

I have a Olympus 1030SW and Canon D10. The 1030SW has had to be repaired once already and I have purchased the extended warrantee for $50 because I fully expect to need it in the next 2 years.

The Canon D10 is Great, but just got it.

Waterproof cameras typically need new seals or oiling every year or so. Olympus says seals should be replaced every 6 months.

sony cybershot has an underwater mode and you can buy an underwater housing for it.
