Hello, I knew that someone here would be able to clear up my confusion so I decided to throw this question out.

I recently purchased points at BLT and received the '09 points as well as the '10 points. I banked the '09 points the minute I received my memebership number. I checked on line once I got my codes to sign into DVC.com and I thought it was fine, but now looking at it again I am not sure.

When I go to my Vacation Points Contract Details, for my August Use Year 2009 it says there are 100 points available, which is why it seemed like all was correct as I banked them so they would be available.

When I look at 2010 it says for my August Use Year there are 100 available, however there is nothing in the "Vacation Points Banked In". The number is 0. The explanation on the page states this is the number of vacation points banked from the previous Use Year for vacations this year.

So should the '09 banked points be represented in the 2010 "Vacation Points Banked In" or it is because my use year has not yet come that it doesn't show the 2009 points Banked In Yet. Or is it possibly something completely different that I don't understand?

Since I am a newbie I am not sure how the points should be detailed and I don't want there to be a situation I am unaware of.

I hope that I made sense and explained it well. Thanks so much for any explanation anyone can give :confused3

If you banked all of your '09 points, it should say 0 points available.

Then it should show 200 points in your '10 UY.

I bought BLT in April and also immediately banked my '09 points, or so I thought. Turns out it wasn't done. When I called back for something else few days later, the CM noticed it wasn't done and then banked them for me. She said you should receive a confirm # when you book over the phone.

I would call MS and check tomorrow; it sounds as though your points weren't banked.

Thanks, I did get a confirm number which I wrote down and I did also note the name of the women who helped me as well as the date and time. I know I am a bit anal sometimes about such things. However I always think that if there is a problem I am better off having as much information as possible to prove my point. I am guessing this won't be a big deal to call and clear up tomorrow. We have been owner about 11 days. Thanks so much for your help, I appreciate it very much. :)

::yes:: Call and get acquainted with the nice folks at MS.

Yes I will definately get aquainted with MS tomorrow, at least now when I call I will sound like I know what I am talking about instead of struggling through the conversation without being certain of what I was asking. Thanks so much for your help. I knew that I could find out what I needed from other members who are a wealth of information! Thanks Again.:thumbsup2

Never feel like you're struggling. Keep asking questions until you are sure you understand. The MS people are generally very helpful, and their job is to help you make reservations and manage your account.

Also, when you start making ressies, be sure to go over ALL of the details of the reservation - dates, number of points used, number of points left, points banked, points borrowed, etc...EVERYthing - until you understand clearly what you did. If there is a discrepancy, it will be much easier to correct while you are still on the phone than later.

Thanks JimMIA for the good advice. I will make sure to do just as you suggested. I have read similar threads saying the same thing. I am sure it will all be second nature to be some day until then I will just have to keep asking questions. Thanks again :)

mdsd8700,

We just don't know how lucky we are with a resource like this board. So many people willing to help out with questions and offering suggestions on items others would have never thought about.

As you tell, I have been a member very long, but have learned sooo much that my wife thinks we've been members for years (and we haven't even puchased yet). Being able to think about how you vacation (every year, every other, twice a year, etc) and decide in the comfort of your own home over several weeks' time has really convinced me this is the thing to do in the long term.

Johnsbelt, you are 100% correct! I am amazed at the wonderful resource of information this board is and how great everyone has been. I have been reading these boards for some years now just for the wonderful Disney advice. However I just started posting last week after we finally bought DVC after years of talking about it. Honestly I have become addicted to the site and my husband laughs as he didn't think my Disney addiction could be any "worse". Wait till I start to get a bad case of addonitis :rotfl:

I called this morning and got everything worked out and now it shows properly on-line with the 2009 points being banked and the correct total of points for 2010. When on the phone I told the MS what had happened she put me on hold for second came back and said everything was corrected now. She gave me another banking number. My question is now, what is that number used for? Is it a way to verify that you did call previously (in case of an error)? I received a banking number the first time as well, but when I called back this second time she didn't even ask me for it. So I was just wondering if they ever do use the banking number for anything. Thanks.

In your case, my guess is that the CM could still see the notes and activity on your account and so didn't need the banking number. (Had more time elapsed, the CM may have needed the number to look up the transaction. I don't know how many days the "activity log" shows for each account). The second banking number is related to what the CM did to fix the problem.

In any event, since it now shows correctly on the website (and kudos to you for checking), you're good to go. Just keep the numbers with your other DVC stuff and don't worry anymore (if you were). As JimMIA already posted, it's good practice to get a points status review at the end of every transaction with MS. If your records don't match their records, it's just so much easier to clear it up right away than it would be later.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome home. :)

Thanks CarolMn for explaing the Banking Number to me, I was sure they used it for something but didn't know why it wasn't needed when I called. Makes sense since only a short time elasped that the activity could still be seen.

I won't say that I am worried or was worried more just like uncertain about a lot of things. Although loving every minute of it, we waited so long to become DVC members that I am still giddy about it :yay:

I will be sure to keep track of my points as you and so many others have said to do. I am sure with out all of the help and reading I have done on this board I would not have caught the error. So I know going forward that everyone here will be able to help with any questions I may have until it becomes more familiar.

Thanks again to everyone! :goodvibes
