Since the search is down, has anyone bought a discounted Disney park ticket, from Undercover Tourist, and then used it to upgrade to an AP? TIA.

In the past, yes, and plan on doing it again in a month. Many people have done it.

Well as of the last price increase last month Disney announced that they will not let you upgraded tickets bought at a discount retailor.

Disney change the way that they bridge tickets but they are still permitting guests to upgrade their tickets which were purchased at from a 3rd-party, as long as they are not specialty tickets or promo tickets. Tickets purchased at UT should be okay, but the most recent word from UT is that they will only be bridged to the gate price which was in effect on the day that the ticket was purchased, not the current gate price.

I'll see if I can find the exact post that UT made on the TPAS thread about the ticket upgrade change.

Here are two posts from that thread:

Hi There,

You can upgrade tickets. Disney wants you to spend longer in the parks :)

The change is that they will credit you the Gate Price at the time the ticket was bought. i.e. So if you buy a ticket, then there is a price increase a few months later, you will not receive the new higher gate price as a credit.

You can still buy tickets in advance, even if you do not know the exact number of days, just don't expect to get the new higher gate price as a credit should there be a price rise after you purchase the tickets.

Thank you

Hi There,

Disney wants you to be able to upgrade. We get our tickets from Disney, there are no differences between a real ticket from us and a real ticket from the gate.

You can upgrade. The policy is correct.

We have always taken care of our customers and we suggest you try and buy the ticket you need, if you don't know exactly - be reassured that you can upgrade. If there happens to be a price rise between purchase and upgrade just be aware that you still lock in your savings but you won't receive the new gate price as a credit.

We move our stock quickly, honestly nobody wants to hold onto stock.

For the other possible wrinkles mentioned, we always take care of our customers::yes::

Thank you

Undercover Tourist

How will they know the ticket is discounted?
They can tell when they sold it (be it at the gate or to an authorized seller), who the seller is (WDTC, WDW Parks, AAA, etc) and how much they sold it to that seller for. It's all coded in the computer under that ticket's information.

Thanks for the help. I plan to travel in August. I'm waiting for Disney to throw me a discount bone for that time frame. I'll buy my tickets from UT, if I need too. At any rate, the price I pay will be after the recent price increase.

I bought a 5 day hopper from UT and upgraded to the DVC PAP with no problem on 02/24. I paid around $128 for the upgrade. :cool1:

It wasn't Disney, though. It was allears. And they've since taken it down. UT is now saying something slightly different from what they've always said, but many CMs are still upgrading the way we believe they should upgrade.

I was thinking about purchasing a ticket from Undercover Tourist and then upgrading to an annual pass once I got to WDW. Does anyone have any recent experiences with doing this? How much are they giving credit to you for the original ticket? gate price or actual price through undercover tourist?

We went in March and although it took a couple visits to Guest Relations to get the right CM, we were given credit for current gate price of our 6 day PH with WP and NE. Saved almost $80 off the AP.

We are there 3/15-21. I was able to upgrade two 5 day MYW tickets for my two daughters to the DVC PAP. I got full gate price for the tickets that were purchased from UT last year.

Hi.
I am thinking about purchasing an AP and also a DVC member.
If I don't purchase the AP, maybe I will purchase the 10 day non expiring.
I am going to Disney in September for 8 nights, December for 2 nights and again in April. I will not do the parks in December (it is pre cruise December 27-29). I am also purchasing the TiW card.

Which would be best for me to get and what the heck is a DVC PAP?
I've never purchased an AP before.

Thank you.

The PAP is a premium annual pass which there is a discount right now until April 30 for DVC members. It is $515/including tax I believe. This is less than a 10 day non expiring. If I was going twice within 12 months I would definitely get the PAP. Unfortunately for me, we are going only for 6 days in December and not again until the following December or January. Otherwise I would buy it.

Thank you VERY much!
Need to figure this out.
I will probably go to the park about 8 times between my 3 trips. This would be worth it then, correct?
Do I need the mousesaver code for the $515 from UT?

Yes, I think it would be worth it. Plus if you have the pass you may find yourself going for an extra day or evening. You have to buy the PAP from Disney to get the DVC discount. There is no code. Just call MS and they can help you with it.
