called disney and they stated in order for 18 month old to be able to order they would need to be on the DDP, so my question is if we purchase her a ddp does she get the same items, 1 TS, 1 counter, 1 snack a day? will this show up on the card as x number of children meals and x number of adult? at one time I understood it showed up under a total number not broke down into children and adult. can some advise me on this please.

Kids under 3 cannot get the dining plan. You would have to register your child as 3 years old and buy a park ticket for them if you are on a package reservation. If you are on a DVC points reservation, you will not have to buy a ticket, but you will still have to register your 18 month old as being 3 years old. If you do that, the child will receive the same dining plan as would any child age 3-9.

What the CM you spoke to means is that if you are eating at an a la carte restaurant or a CS, you can share anything you want with a child under age 3, but if you buy something specifically for them you will need to pay for it. If you eat at buffets or fixed menu, all you can eat family style restaurants, the child can eat all they want for free. If you are planning to eat at a lot of buffet or family style you may not need to consider buying the dining plan for a child that young.

TS credits are separated into adult and child credits and these are tracked on your receipts. CS credits are not separated into adult and child. It is up to you to track how many adult and child CS you have used.

we are owners at SSR so we will be staying there, little grand daughter probably can't eat alot of the foods we would order to eat while there so we thought getting her the dp would work with her snacks and drinks throughout the day, I am surprise they don't have one for small kids

we tool my 4 year old and just turned two last year and had wanted to buy ddp for the 2 yr old and were told we couldn't. It worked out fine. We ate at a lot of buffets and he was able to have his own plate and they always brought hom a drink no charge. Numerous times cm's would say are you sure he wouldn't like something like at crt and they brought him out a kids meal and din't charge us. this happened at a few places. I also have a 4 yr old that eats like a bird so they shared on occasion as well.

I wish I didn't have to buy both my kids the DP now! My kids were fine sharing meals with each other or with us. After a week of chicken nuggets, french fries, grapes & apple sauce, they are more interested in what's on the adult plate anyway. :rotfl:
