Under 25 for TWO days

I am going to Disney from 8/29 through 9/4. My 25th birthday is on 8/31! I have reserved a car through National (thanks to lurking on this board for the last two weeks I picked up hints on EA and how to get a free EC membership through capital one TYVM)

My question/wonder is.... I have made the reservation via my EC profile, for which my DOB was required. If I left the Contract ID as is (the Capital One ID) no young driver fee was charged at all. If I changed it to the EC id I found on these boards - or if I changed it to the Bestfares.com id I had, the young driver fee appeared.

I am worried that if I try to use EA, that I am either a. going to get charged the young driver fee when we are leaving for all seven days (thats what the EC and Bestfares.com id were doing even though I was only NOT 25 for two days) or b. cause some kind of commotion when I am trying to leave that is going to ruin our first hours in Orlando.

I am certainly going to bring my confirmation page with me that shows that no young driver fee was charged (it isn't as if they don't know my age since it is on my profile) plus I am going to bring all of my car insurance information to show that I am covered by my own insurance.

I doubt anyone has had this kind of experience - but I am okay with scenario a - I can battle it out with National after my vacation (this is also going to be our second honeymoon as our first one in May was overshadowed with family issues from the wedding) Does anyone know if when they check you out all they do is enter your reservation number to verify that you did indeed reserve the car and your license matches the name on the reservation - or do they actually look into this stuff. I don't want to cheat the system (but if they do threaten to charge the fee I am going to threaten to take my business elsewhere - its only two days for Pete's sake) but I also want to be able to take advantage of the EA and avoid the counter at all costs (flight arrives Aug 29th at 10:30 - I'm sure that MCO is going to be a zoo)

Any opinions - you all have really enabled me to dig up some great deals!!!

Some corporate rates do not charge an underage driver fee. I don't know if Capital One is one of them but obviously you'll get the best rate using a discount code that doesn't charge an underage driver fee. Keep your printout, National honors the rates even if they make a mistake.

Of course it couldn't be that easy!! ;) ;) ;)

DH won't be 25 until October (yes I married a younger man)

I like the idea that they have to charge me what it says on my confirmation - I might print out some young driver fee included rate quotes for comparison so that they can prove my case.

Oh well!

EC and EA

Thinking about renting a car now and would love info on discounts I could receive!

This happened to me a couple of times when I was under 25 (once with Budget, once with National). My company had contracts with these companies that included free LDW and no young driver surcharge for business and leisure rentals. When I made the reservation over the phone, I confirmed that there would be no younger driver surcharge and got the name of the person confirming it. Although in both cases, the counter agents initially wanted to charge me the under 25 rate, I just produced the names of the people I talked to and my company code and they accepted the rate. This did take up about an hour at the counter.

If you just print out your confirmation, you shoudl be fine. I would expect a slight resistance from the counter agent, but once you show them the proof that they quoted you a rate without a surcharge, you should be fine. I would budget a little extra time to get out of the airport due to this fact.
