I know these are unconfirmed, but I saw these Harry Potter release dates on www.movie-source.com. They were:

1) April 4th, 2006- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire dvd

2) June 1st, 2007- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie

3) 2008- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

If these are true, Harry Potter IV would be released on dvd in about 4 1/2 months! But then, Harry Potter V wouldn't be out for 1 1/2 years! Wow!

Any tentative dates yet for the last book?

She said in interviews when HBP came out that she was going to start working on #7 after the new year, she had a new baby in Feb and wanted some time with the kids. The book won't be out for at least 1 1/2 years I am guessing, maybe summer of 2007?

I think it would be perfect if book 7 was released on 7/7/07.

I am bummed that the 5th movie will take so long to make, but they will have a lot of special effects to do (the giant, Grawp, is supposed to be all CGI) so I guess there is no alternative but to wait.

Grr I was so hoping to read that Book 7 would be out by the end of 2006. Grrr, I hate this waiting, I just love reading those novels and then watching the movies.

They better not drag their feet; those kids are NOT getting any younger! I loved in the new movie how Neville just towers over Harry now!

I was thinking that also.It already caused some difficulties in the last movie.

Wow. I totally understand her wanting to be with her kids, and also that writing takes awhile (especially the last book in a major series) but I wanna read it now! LOL

I'd be more than happy to check at work tomorrow for an absolute DVD release date for Harry Potter 4, if people are interested. :sunny:

I have read this sentiment many times, and I really just don't understand it. Actors play younger characters all the time, and it's seldom even mentioned. Look at Beverly Hills 90210, or Dawson's Creek, or the OC. Those actors are not teenagers. Harry is supposed to be 15 in the 5th movie, the actor who plays him is 16. That's hardly a stretch!

Is there really that much of a visible difference between a 17 year old boy and a 19 year old boy?

Dan Radcliffe (the actor who plays Harry) is apparently on the short side - and I guess the kid who plays Neville is on the tall side, that's genetics, not age. I am taller than my mother, who is obviously much older than me!

I would much rather see the same actors looking "older" than their characters than a new set of actors whose only qualification is that they are a few years younger.

I hears that the kids are not doing any more of the films as they are getting too old for the roles. We are bummed out because we have fallen in love with the actors....

I don't understand why they don't just do it like the Lord of the Rings and just spend a year and a half filming the rest of the published books and put the movies out 6 months apart...that way we wouldnt have to wait so long.

You are comparing tv shows that deal with teenagers from the birth of the shows. There is no issue of how physical changes will happen over time. Nobody has read the scripts either. HP really cannot be compared as the child actors were hired to play children to age year by year following a specific timeline which the whole series is focused. Summer break for the HP kids is clashing with real time for the actors. Puberty happens.

They are filming or doing the prep work for the 5th book where the characters are 15, in real life the trio are 16, that isn't that much of a difference. Also, on Leaky Cauldron there is an interview with Dan Radcliff and he said he was getting ready to film the 5th book, sounds like they will be around for that. Warner Brothers has a gold mine with these kids, they will do what they can to keep them. The make-up artists can make them look younger if needed, too. Look around at your local high school, these kids look younger then most of the kids there, actually.

No I think what the OP was saying was when 90210 came on TV the only two actors who were close to their TV age were Brian Austin Green (15) and Tori Spelling (15). The rest of the actors hired to play sophomores in High School were already pushing 20, some even older than 20 (Luke Perry was 25 when the show started). People bought it because they basically surrounded the actors with extras who looked the same age.

I hadn't heard this was official yet. I can't see them changing actors. I would go over about as well as killing one of those three characters off in the last book.

well, first when they filmed LOTR, they were dealing with books that had been written and published for years. They were able to complete all 3 screenplays at the same time, and then film them. Much different case here.

I wish they would film the rest of the movies back to back, like LOTR. Because at this rate, the actors will be too old for movies #6+7.
