Unbelievable - a mob attacked these people for nothing

I never meant that someone could not protect themselves. I simply was speaking of a large number of people running out to purchase guns to protect themselves from this particular group of boys. IF people were to be trully frightened by something like this, they can do some really stupid things.

Do you think everyone in Akron knows what all these boys look like? Example: someone could be afraid of this happening to them, start carrying a gun, some innocent group of black boys walks up to them to ask them a question and the person pulls the gun and starts shooting.

Or a group of boys with some charity is going door to door asking for donations. They knock on someone's door. This person is terrified of being attacked (because of the incident that happened) and starts shooting.

These things HAVE happened.

Just what is it you are trying to say?
First you said there is a difference between feeling threatened and being threatend as it relates to defending yourself. And I agreed.
If you feel threatened and are not, then something is wrong with you.

Not very realistic? But yet it has happened.

I apologize for not being clear. Maybe I am using "frightened" and "threatened" iinterchangably and confusing you. I am talking about people who are frightened because they hear people talking about this incident in much the same way it is being talked about here. Because they are frightened, they buy a gun or load the ones they have or whatever. Then, an innocent kid or group of kids walks up to them; they feel they are going to be attacked (feel threatened) and shoot.

This story doesnt suprise me at all.
These gangs are just a bunch of thugs with no life.
THEY CHOOSE not to be responsible citizens.
Considering the demographics of parts of Akron...i didnt need the story to tell me the attackers were black, i think we all knew that was the case.

They need to be permanately taken out of society, that was they cant do this again.
Its too bad the family didnt have a concealed weapon.

Oh noooo, flag on the field! Flag on the field! Demographics have absolutely nothing to do with the choices a person makes and how they choose to live their life.... and IMO the color of our skin has even less to do with our behavior than logistics.

Skin color is only relevant because it may have been the catalyst of this particular event and it may also be why this crime is deemed less relevant than another similar crime if the race of victims and criminals were reversed.

Please don't derail a topic that SHOULD be thought about and discussed by dragging all sorts of social ills into the arena.
