Umbrella Stroller without baby!

In a normal public setting, perhaps, but that backpack would have already gone through bag check at entry. Either way, stroller parking is for strollers, not for backpacks. Lol

But if you're at an airport, the bags have gone through security and they tell you constantly not to leave bags unattended as they will be removed. Wouldn't this kind of be the same?

I suppose, but many stroller parking areas have an attendant, so they would likely be stopped before leaving it anyway. I've seen people leave a backpack alone as a way to save a parade spot for at least 20 minutes on more than one occasion. Nothing was ever done.

Setting a random backpack down in the stroller area is a no no. Security would come out of the woodworks with a K-9 to make sure it is safe.
It's very common to leave a backpack or bag in a stroller. If K-9 security came out of the woodwork for every bag left in a stroller, they would need a full-time team for every stroller parking area.

not talking about sitting in a stroller, but lying around on the ground and nobody near it. That gets noticed or reported, it will be checked. It was actually suggested on this thread that the OP could forego the stroller and just leave the backpack on the ground in stroller parking.

That's not a smart idea. Not from a bomb-sniffing dog standpoint but that some good samaritan will being it to lost and found  and it won't be there when the OP returns for it.

The OP mentioned leaving it in a stroller area and coming back hours later. Didn't they ? That brilliant move would most assuredly have security coming out. This wouldn't necessarily bring out the dogs but once it was determined it was safe the articles would be removed from where it was left. Lunch lost anyway.

I was at a convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center once and someone left an unattended backpack in a hall. Bomb squad was called and they evacuated multiple halls/rooms and thousands of people. So yea, it does happen! Definitely be careful about leaving unattended bags...

Assuredly? Nope, I still don't think so. People leave their strollers in Fantasyland for hours and the strollers and items are not removed. I think there are some good reasons why the OP shouldn't leave a bag full of food in a stroller, but the slim (IMO) chance that security might take an interest in it is not one of them.

When my kids were babies and I would take that double stroller to the mall I wondered how I would ever manage without it. Well the day came and they outgrew it and to my surprise it was pure freedom. I have everyone carry their own stuff and limit the stuff. If we do take a lunch and water we rent a locker. The lockers are out of the hot sun so it's better for food stuff.

I probably wouldn't do it, but I don't think it would be a problem. I actually pushed an empty stroller at WDW when my DD went on a few attractions with her grandmother sans stroller. No one said anything to me or even gave me funny looks.

I saw a family at AK last year that brought a stroller for this very purpose. We were waiting for rope drop and the family was in front of us. The 2 children looked to be between the ages of 12-15, and physically could not have fit in the stroller. I was looking for a small child, but there wasn't one. The stroller was just for carrying their stuff.

believe me, if they see a backpack just lying around, they ARE going to check it.

For sure! Saw that very thing a couple of weeks ago at the Animal Kingdom. Someone left a backpack by Primeval Whirl. A CM stood right next to it, and was talking to someone on his radio. I have to admit, it did give me the creeps a little.

You know - I thought this too, but on our last trip, I spied an unattended backpack under the AstroOrbiter, in that seating/eating area. It was on a table where no one was sitting, and was unattended for a protracted period of time - 30 minutes or more(?). I know because it was pouring down rain and I was sheltering myself while my daughter and husband rode rides in the area. CMs were abundant in that area, and no one did anything about it. It didn't make me feel very safe.

In my opinion assuredly. Security CMs do more, see more than the average person is aware of.

See here is the thing though, you don't know who is watching what. What the protocol is, or when you will actually see security in the costumes you are used to seeing. I feel confident in saying that the bag was being watched. Radio communications is not something you would be aware of or able to hear.

I sometimes bring an empty stroller when I go shopping. I guess that's weird... LOL

Yes, I had this thought myself ... that maybe they watched someone put the backpack down and could see that he/she was still nearby. Entirely possible.

So I'm a Florida resident shooting down to Orlando for a quicky-trip with three of my kids, you youngest of which is 10 years old. This is a budget, just because we can trip. My question, if I bring in an umbrella stroller without a baby on my hip, will I get grief from cast members at the gate? I will also have a backpack with sandwiches, water bottles, etc. My plan is to park said stroller with my backpack in it in the designated stroller areas, have fab time with the teenagers & come back & fetch my backpack as needed.

Please don't roast my booty for the question!

It's actually not a bad idea. I personally am thrilled that I don't have to push a stroller now that my kids are 5, but in 10 years from now I might not mind pushing one for a day. Also, it doesn't sound like you want to leave anything valuable in it, just some waters and sandwiches and I guess if someone is that hungry, you wouldn't mind helping them out! LOL

I did exactly this. Cheap stroller, never left anything in it that if someone took would cause me to do more than just shrug my shoulders and say "Oh well." If someone else needed my PBJ sandwiches, grapes, granola bars and water bottles badly enough to take them, so be it. We parked it in a centrally located stroller parking area and just grabbed it when we moved on. I liked not having to deal with bags on the ride.
I bought the stroller off craigslist for $10 and sold it for $15 when I got back home. MUCH cheaper and more convenient than renting an inconveniently located locker for 7 days.

It's not a totally weird idea. I haven't done it, but I have a friend who always brought her double stroller with her everywhere even after her kids were past stroller using age because she liked to carry a lot of snacks and all kinds of stuff around when they went to the zoo, the aquarium, an amusement park or whatever. To me, it would be more of a pain in the rear, but nobody is going to stop you or say anything about it. Be aware that you WILL have to go thru bag check with the stroller and there are parts of the park where you will have to leave the stroller in stroller parking and it might be inconvenient to go back to it easily. And you might have to worry about your possessions disappearing (though I never had an issue with that when I did use a stroller).

With older kids like you have, I'd be more inclined to have them cart the stuff around themselves, but I refuse to be a pack mule for the other members of my party. On our last trip my husband kept asking me to put his things in my bag, and I finally told him that if he wanted me to carry his stuff, he'd have to take turns carrying my (pink and flowery Vera bradley) bag. That got him to stop asking me. LOL.
