Today we woke up and got ready quickly and went to the CL lounge for breakfast. As per usual, we were running later than wed wanted to be, but we finished breakfast and were headed out to walk over to the Dolphin to pick up a car wed rented by about ten to 9 wed reserved the car for 9 am. This day, we were leaving Disney

eek

and venturing out to Tampa for a Yankees spring training game. Id reserved a rental car through Alamo a few days earlier (mainly because I forgot to look into it more than a few days before our trip) and got a great rate Id checked a couple days before I actually reserved and the price was about $30 more than what I ended up paying 2 or 3 days later.
Anyway, on our way over to the Dolphin, we saw a family of ducks swimming in Stormalong Bay it was a mommy duck and about 6 ducklings, who were too adorable to pass.
The mom and the ducklings hopped out of the pool after a bit and walked across the path we were walking on to get to the beach, but one little duckling could not make the jump to get out of the pool he tried and tried, but kept falling back into the pool.

It was so very sad! Kevy was ready to jump in to rescue him, but finally the resourceful little duckling realized he could swim down a bit to an area where a rock went from the water up to the side of the pool, so he walked up the rock and got to the sidewalk.

Hooray! He was a few minutes behind the rest of his family at this point, so he let out a little quack. His mom heard and quacked out loudly, and our smart little guy ran over to the pathway.

His mom then crossed back over to get him, and together they crossed back to the beach, where the family was united in a gross little polluted area of the beach. A beautiful scene.
Assured that all was well with our duck family, we proceeded to the Dolphin. We entered the lobby and found the car rental desk, where we were given our keys and the paperwork wed need. It was a very quick process, and we walked out to the entrance where a valet pulled our rental car up for us. The car we got was very nice and drove well it was some sort of Chevy. The whole rental process from the Dolphin was really quick and easy, and well definitely rent from there again if we need a car during future trips.
Before we set out for Tampa, we made a pit-stop at a
Walmart to buy a bag of baseballs and some Sharpies, in case we had the opportunity to get any autographs, since we had completely forgotten to bring anything to sign from home. We wanted to get to Tampa as early as possible to increase our chances of being able to get autographs, so Kevy was charged with finding the baseballs, Laura with finding the Sharpies, and I ran to the ladies room surprise, surprise.
After the quickest Walmart trip ever, we set out for Tampa. There was no traffic, and the drive to Tampa was very easy it was basically one highway the entire way down. Everyone was driving about 5 mph under the speed limit though, which was insane. I was able to zoom around these slow guys most of the time, so it was fine. Our only complaint about the drive was the horrendous radio station options we could not find any contemporary pop or R&B stations.

Luckily Laura had brought a mix CD that shed made at home, so we were able to listen to that.
When we arrived in Tampa, we were surprised by how gross the area around the Yankees field was. When we were driving up, we saw a small practice field that was surrounded by a short little fence (maybe up to a persons knees) running around this little field, we saw Robbie Cano and Brett Gardner! We should have pulled over on the side of the road to meet them, but we did not.
A bit further up the road was the stadium (also very small), but not as small and ghetto as the practice field. The parking lot is across the highway from the stadium, so we parked and then walked over a small bridge.
Once we arrived, we saw Andy and Mitre and a few other guys practice pitching in a bullpen below us to our right.
To our left, and down a set of stairs, was a large practice field.
The rest of the team was practicing over there. The vets hit first, so left earliest, and standing up on the bridge, we saw Jorge, Derek Jeter, and A-Rod run from the practice field back to the main stadium area.
We went down by the practice field, but there were tons of people standing along the fence, so there was no chance we would have gotten close enough to get any autographs. We arrived at around 11 am for a 1 pm game, but now know that we would have needed to arrive quite a bit earlier to meet anyone.
The practice field area and the area on the bridge to watch the pitchers are accessible without actually entering the stadium, so no tickets needed.
