I'm suprised that it's even as "close" as it is---
I am too, but mostly because this was posted on a WDW theme parks board. I don't know how you can call a poll the "ultimate" when it's population comes from lovers of one of the choices. :confused3

You'd get different answers if you posted this on a non-DIS board, or even on the DIS Community or Universal boards.

For me, it's none of the above. DL is my fave.

I don't know. IOA is a damn good park. I can go as far as saying it's probably my most favorite in Orlando. While MK is probably my least favorite. Really, the only thing I like about MK anymore is the Castle and COP. Everything else is for the kids. IOA is a great park. Very well done in all aspects.
Agree :smickey:

Love both parks for different reasons but what I really have noticed in my past visits to IOA is...there has been a concerted effort by Universal to compete with Disney on their level. I feel IOA has become a cleaner park, employee's are more helpful and friendlier. I commented to my daughter that Universal must have sent their employee's to Disney's training program. Also, I have seen more employee's at Universal with disabilities than at Disney. :thumbsup2 My heart...still belongs to MK

Hmm IOA is newer and does have fun bells and wistles- Like that Titan show(that is coooool ) and then there is Spiderman. But for little kids Seuss landings is cute but doesn't really compete with fantasyland.
Plus the fact that I was almost mugged on Spiderman in the babyswap would make me pick MK.

You are comparing apples to oranges. They are both great parks, but totally different. I love them both and could not pick one over the other. While I love Disney, I love the theming at IOA. I always get a thrill walking into Jurassic Park. Just hearing the theme song puts me in a fun mood. The Jurassic Park River Adventure is a great ride! Sorry, but Bilge Rat Barges puts Kali to shame. My favorite area is The Lost Continent. It makes me feel like I've entered another world.

That being said, I still love MK. I just don't understand why people think they can't like both Disney and Universal. It really isn't a problem for Disney and Universal employees. My neighbor who is a Disney exec has an annual pass to Universal. If it doesn't bother him, why does it bother folks on this board so much?

No comparison.

It's like the difference between chopped liver and pate! :goodvibes

I have to vote for MK as I hate Roller Costers and that seems to be all that IOA has except for Spiderman.

That is really not the case. There are really neat shows at IOA as well as Bilge Rat Barge (my all time favorite), Jurrasic Park River Adventure, Rip Saw Falls, Cat In The Hat, One Fish, Two Fish..., etc.

MK! I went to both Universal parks again last fall and was ready to go home. I prefer any Disney park over Universal.

I like IOA but MK is so much better. :wizard:

I really enjoy both parks, so I would have a hard time voting. I love the feeling of magic and wonder at the MK. I find IOA to be more whimsical (Toon Lagoon & Suess) and adventurous. We'll be doing both in our upcoming trip - so thankfully, I don't have to make a choice. :)

It depends on the kid, though. My now 3yo (2.5 at WDW last fall), is a thrill-seeker, like the rest of her family :thumbsup2 . But she doesn't like the dark. At MK, she didn't love much other than Dumbo, Goofy's Barnstormer, the Carousel and playing in the houses in ToonTown. Peter Pan was too dark; we weren't going to try Snow White; she didn't even like Winnie the Pooh, mostly because of the heffalumps and woozles scene.

I haven't been to IOA with a child yet, but from the reading I've done, I think they have at least as much that my 3yo will enjoy (and is tall enough to ride) as MK. One Fish Two Fish... is similar to Dumbo, but she'll like the added attraction of squirting water. They have the carousel with Suess characters, they have a Popeye playground and Camp Jurassic to play in. They have the Flying Unicorn rollercoaster and Pterydon Flyers, which I know she will love! The Cat in the Hat ride might be too dark for her, like fantasyland's dark rides, we'll have to wait and see.

I'll be able to give a good review of IOA for a 3yo after our trip this fall!

MK for the experience, IOA for the thrills. Depends on the mood I'm in that day.

Gee asking this on a dis board where people become nearly militant over a commercial. How would you think the poll would turn out?

I absolutely love both parks, but have to vote for IOA by a very bare smidgeon. I am absolutely NOT a thrill ride person - have never ridden Dueling Dragons and have only attempted Hulk once, but I love the attention to detail there, right down to the trash cans. I love how the music changes when you move from land to land. And there is no better themeing than Seussland :)

My littlest one has preferred to go to IOA since he was 4. Loves all the rides and can play for hours in the Jurassic Park play area. He was so thrilled when at 8 he could finally get on Dueling Dragons. So, that is what swayed me to vote for IOA, my 9 year old's opinion :thumbsup2 Although, the mere memory of having to ride Unicorn 12 times in a row might just make me change my mind and vote for MK.

The shows at IOA are great and I was surprised at how many rides I actually enjoyed and how much there was to do for my youngest kids. Spiderman and Popeye are my favorites.

I have to admit, I was disappointed when MK started removing rides like 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and then didn't replace them.

But I have to agree with the other posters. You really can't compare the two. They are different parks and offer different experiences, both of which are fantastic. I am just glad that I have 6 fantastically put together parks (sometimes 7 when we include Sea World) to enjoy when we head on down to Orlando. I love them all.

And having both in Orlando just makes everything better, because they keep each other on their toes. Better for us, the consumer.

I really love IOA because of the roller coasters, but there's something at the MK that just cannot compete with it. Just the fact that Walt Disney made it and that there are so many more things to do, AND IOA doesn't have fireworks, I vote for MK. Not to mention the lack of food at IOA (Except for Mythos). :)

It's apples and oranges you cannot compare the two. Besides you are asking on a Disney driven site the outcome is a given . . . .

There really is no comparison. IMHO Universal simply does not have the magic that Disney has. Disney parks will always top Universal in my mind. :goodvibes

Are you related to Ray Finkel?

Obsessed much?

Sea World for me, and I'll take you all on if you don't like it. ;)
