Spring Direct Incentives 2/9-4/27

What if I sell baylake and add SSR direct! Won't anyone support SSR direct????
It's a bad idea IMO. Pump the brakes and keep the VDH contract you have. It's not like you don't have a lot of points, what you need is points that can get you into DL reliably. That's VDH. If you sold BLT resale to buy SSR direct you'd just come back down the line and say you regret not buying something else direct with a better home resort priority like Poly direct.

It is also possible that the guides did not get that info until later in the day?

I can tell you it happens and customers can find into that didn’t make it officially to those who need it.
I’m assuming that everyone that has the card received the same email. The email came from Chase. Chase would not have had the authority to promote a discount on DVC without their say so which would have happened way before the email went out. The guides should have known and if they actually weren’t informed of this promotion that is just bad management.

I wish they never would have released this SSR incentive. I get extreme satisfaction booking more expensive hotels on SSR points. With that being said, my direct contract expiring and im not dead yet (hopefully) and before my other contracts is depressing.

SSR direct is attractive, but if you bought SSR today instead of VDH, will you eventually come back to wanting some VDH.

I don’t have a crystal ball for future prices but my guess is VDH has more room to keep climbing in price than SSR. If I had to choose the order of buying one of them today and one later, my pick would be VDH sooner.

This is the same DVC that just published a $500 fee and then waited for people to notice, including their own employees.

Yes it is the same DVC but that is completely different as that has absolutely no effect on direct sales on the decision was made completely in house vs a way to boost direct sales and working with another company.

The reason is because this could be my ticket to buying 250 direct points 😭😭 I cant do that with vdh its too expensive. And I always book last minute, like I just booked aulani two weeks ahead of time im not sure i need a home resort priority, I booked a bunch of vdh reservations for every month without home resort priority. Resale ssr wont get me into the direct resorts or id just buy that again. Im not saying im gunna do it but it is mighty tempting lol

Is there a specific reason you want 250 direct? Like....wanting to use it at a certain resort? Certain room type? Or type of year? Just curious.

I know people think I dont listen to what the board says and just do whatever I want but I am listening!!! The future availab

I wanted 200 vdh direct and did the math and saw i could get 250 ssr direct for just $100 more so that was tempting me a lot

I have three Disney Visas and did not get the email. So, no, everyone did not get it.

I’m just saying that there are times with any company, including Disney, that sell where specials and promotions go to clients before officially sent to those selling it,,,meaning we are sometimes a few hours behind.

Sounds like they also rolled out a new way to share the incentives so maybe it was computerized and that hadn’t yet been loaded? Not unimaginable for Disney IT.

And yes, sometimes management is a little late in getting the info out.

Good thing is that once alerted, there was no issue in getting it applied and mt guess is that it didn’t take long for all to be up to speed.

Well I know people probably thinks I dont listen to the boards (or my wife lol) but I do listen so we are going 200 vdh direct! In the end, 50 extra points ain't much let's be real to sacrifice the OG Disney. I dont want to dump it for 2-3 extra nights in a studio. I will book my birthday month for the FIRST time at the 11 month window this month at VDH!

What really stuck with me was length of contract and how hard its going to be later to get into these resorts with restricted resale. I listened to people telling me how easy it will be to sell vdh later if needed, how easy to rent out the points, how my direct contract will be the FIRST to expire and then im back in reHell which who knows what that will look like 28 years from now.

It also crossed my mind that @intamin probably won't make me a new signature with horse only and how will I feel about that. @tx911 missed this crisis and it didnt feel right. @VGCgroupie is on vacation and probably distracted from really telling me in detail how stupid this is. And I will miss being part of my vdh gang who's been with me through this direct Rollercoaster 🎢

Coupled with The fact ive never even stayed at ssr And I got my kicks there already getting it for cheap and theres always going to be a tempting sale later. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. Long live VDH gang gang, members of the happiest resort on Earth 🎆 🐭 🏰

That is a very, very good reason not to buy SSR direct. I don't think anyone should buy SSR direct unless they will be happy staying there.

Myself, having stayed in a 1 BR at SSR just this past weekend, I am going to give this SSR sale some thought. I liked SSR much more than I thought I would. (And I have my own thread if anyone wants to offer input, which I greatly welcome :-))

As I said, I don’t have it. I just wanted to point out that we should not assume the guide left it out purposefully and it’s more likely that sales wasn’t quite made aware of all the new discounts right away.
I didn't get the Disney Visa email either. But when I called my guide the second time (after my first conversation when he said I had everything for the incentives) and asked about the Disney Visa incentive, he said "oh, I didn't know you had a Disney Visa". So, if he knew about the discount, he was keeping it a secret unless directly asked about it, or was caught unaware and trying to play it off.

I will put my input, if I liked SSR and had as many points as you do at resorts i already liked id be running that card uppp 😆 🤣

Thank you for letting us know about it, I emailed my guide and told her I knew all of the incentives and which were better this cycle and the old cycle 😆 She has 5 emails of mine to come back to work tomorrow, the first pumped about SSR and the last just kidding and pumped about VDH 🤣🤣

I know they used to let people close in 90 days in the past, but does anyone know if they ever let people close in 120 days in the past or was the max 90?
