I just saw on EBAY someone listing Ultimate Park Hopper Passes for sale. From what I thought, UPH were only good through the dates of your stay at the resort. Isn't that right? Its not like the PHP passes, because unused days on those never expire. I am just making sure I understand the passes. (It gets a bit confusing at times) I want to get a 5 day pass for my 6 day stay. I know we will lose one day at least coming or going to the resort. And I want to make sure I have enough for us to enjoy the parks. We might have time for the 5th day, but in case we do not, I could always save the day for the next trip.

But am I right about the UPH?

Thanks!
Melissa

If anyone's trying to sell you UPH's on Ebay, run the other way fast. :teeth:

You are correct about UPH's. They do not exist in any form until you check in to your resort where they are added to your resort ID. The tickets expire at midnight on the day you check out. There are no left over days to use at a later time.

It's possible the seller doesn't understand the difference between the tickets and really has PHP's to sell. It's also possible that seller knows full well the difference and is pulling a fast one.

Thank you. That is what I thought. Makes me wish I could put a big sign on the auction saying "Don't do it!" I always question buying passes of Ebay anyway because you never really know how many days are left on there. Too risky a business.

Thanks!
Melissa

First off I would never buy Disney Passes on ebay, too risky IMO.

But it is very possible that the person is really selling a Park Hopper and just put in the wrong name. Or they could mean it was the Ultimate park hopper because it gave both parks and extras (water parks etc).

There are many reuptable ticket brokers that sell on ebay (Ticket Momma being one). It's the individual sellers that I would be leary of purchasing from.

While some may be "recputalbe" I would still never purchase tickets off of ebay. I also avoid the discount ticket brokers that are online.

To each their own. Some people can only afford a trip to WDW by doing it the "budget" way and if that means buying from reputable ticket brokers to save money, then whatever works :)

I always go "budget" but I also don't want to get stuck when I get to the gate with a bad ticket.

I have heard stories from people (even here on the DIS) from buying tickets from these "reputable" ticket brokers and having troubles.

And usually you are only saving a few dollars, not worth it to me.

I've only heard stories of people buying tickets off ebay (and not from brokers) and them having troubles. Do you have any links to specific incidents of reputable broker fraud? I'm curious now.

The UPH's they are offering may be credited ones from the hurricane(s) situation. We just got back and were given 2 day UPH due to the parks being closed for 2 days. Actually, we werent given them, I had to ask for them even though they were paid for. Maybe someone decided to sell theirs.

You can do a search on here for them. I haven't really been into researching WDW or keeping up on the current status things, since we have no plan to go to WDW anytime soon (unless I hit the lottery).

I would not think twice about buying a new ticket from a broker using my credit card. Worst case I would have to dispute the charge and lose the advance ticket discount from Disney because I would have to replace it at the park.

I would never buy a ticket from an individual on ebay. The passes are not transferable so you do not know what you are getting. If there is a problem there is no credit card company to dispute with and it may be too late to leave feedback. Buyer beware.

One can search here, but I don't think that anyone will find a single post about anyone having problems with the reputable ticket brokers that are discussed on this board - Ticketmania, FloridaOrlandoTickets, CentralFloridaTravel, MapleLeafTickets, ParamountInternationalTravel, and a host of others.

I used to have the concern that you do DisneyChrista, but I have learned through the years that there are many reputable ticket brokers that can legitimately save people money on their Disney tickets. I have used several of these brokers myself and have saved a lot of money doing so.

But in the end, everyone has to do what they feel comfortable with. ::yes::

Well when I was doing my planning for our WDW trip back in 2001/2002, there were comments made about getting "bad tickets" from ticket brokers. And these were NOT people buying from Ebay. I honestly can not say what agency it was. Nor do I remember if they got a resolution. But it DID happen. But like I said it was years ago.

You are correct. There was one incident two years ago. You can and should read the entire thread at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=246765

The problem stemmed from a man who bought two 4 day PH tickets from a very well known ticket wholesaler. He used them with no problems for the first two days. On the third day, the tickets were rejected as having been used completely up.

It was a weekend and he couldn't get in touch with the wholesaler until Monday. He contacted them first thing Monday morning and they made good on the tickets.

The ATS computer system that reads and keeps track of all Disney tickets regardless of where they were purchased from had the two tickets listed in their database as having only two admissions remaining instead of four. Computers are wonderful but they are only as good as the information that is fed into them. The two tickets were incorrectly shown as having been used twice previously in the database. Could have been human error. Could have been incorrect or smeared bar code printed on the ticket. Could have been several other things.

This is not something that happens frequently at all. It is also not something that is exclusive to tickets bought from wholesalers. It happens to Disney's tickets from time to time as well.

As Beth said, there are many reputable ticket wholesalers around who offer good prices and will stand behind their product. Some are even members of their Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau.

I can completely understand your reticence in buying your tickets from a wholesaler. There are many others like you that feel the same way. But there are also many others who enjoy the savings they can get when purchasing from these wholesalers. When you buy for a family of four or for a long stay, the savings are not "a few dollars", it's a lot of money.

I wouldn't either. Hotwire has the best prices. Why take a chance with someone you don't know. I am sorry all you ebayers. But it is a scary place. If i did buy off ebay i would check their history. Hey i bought my wedding flowers and alot of my wedding stuff off ebay. I am not putting them down in anyway. I just don't think anyone can beat hotwires prices.
