While we're staying at BW with friends in another room at BW on our DVC points, are our friends able to get the DVC discount on the Ultimate Park Hopper? Also - I understand there's a way to get the pass shortened if they're leaving early on their departure day - is that right? AND - what is the discount on those tickets? Thanks!

If your friends are staying on your points, they are considered your guests and they can also get the discount on UPH tickets. It doesn't matter if they are staying in another room. If they booked separately through CRO (paying cash), then no, they will not get the DVC discount.

The discount is 10%.

When they buy the tickets at check in, the CM will allow your friends to drop the departure day on the tickets if that's want they want to do.

Enjoy the trip!

It may depend on the CM, but when we asked about getting unlimited magic passes for 5 days for four of us and two days for two of us, we were told that all the unlimited magic passes must be for the same length of time to receive the discount. Of course, we were all staying in the same unit. If your friends are staying in a separate room and using points, then they are technically a totally separate booking and can get UMP for a different length of time than your party, and yes, you are allowed to drop either the first night or the last night and sometimes both.. Hope you are able to work this out.

There are 2 answers here. The technically answer is that the DVC member must be staying in the same unit for the guest to get the discount. Also, the rules say it's for the entire length of stay including check in and check out. The reality is that guests have gotten the discount even when the member wasn't at WDW so I would expect it. Also, many have been allowed to drop one day of the pass and not uncommonly both the first and last day.

The other issue is that stays that are for consecutive days even if different size units or cash for some, points for others are all counted as one stay.

Since my relatives don't plan on purchasing their tickets until they arrive, then we'll be able to check it all out then. I was really hoping that they would pay the little bit extra over the one-day passes to give them the freedom to hop.

My brother is staying in a room with our DVC pts. we already have annual premium passes-what should they get so they can do everything ? Is this the Park hopper ?

Park Hopper passes only include the main four theme parks. Park Hopper Plus passes include a limited number of visits to other attractions. The five day hopper plus gives you two plus visits, 6 day gives you three plus visits, and 7 day gives you four plus visits. The plus visits can be used for admission to any of the water parks, Wide World of Sports, or Pleasure Island. The park hoppers and Park Hopper plus passes never expire (including the plus visits). You use one plus visit for each day you enter any of the plus attractions and you cannot hop between the plus attractions (including hopping between the water parks) without using an additional plus visit off your pass. The Unlimited Passes (for which we get the 10% DVC discount--the only pass for which there is a DVC discount) gives you unlimited visits to all of the places mentioned for the Park Hopper Plus pass, but it also gives you unlimited admission to Disney Quest. The unlimited pass is only good for your length of stay--there is no carryover of unused days or features.
