I am sure that the powers that be will ban me after this post. Here is the truth...FastPass+ is a failure. A 2 billion dollar failure. HOWEVER..this is not the final goal of Disney. MARK MY WORDS...and the lords who rule this site will ban this soon, so read quickly...Disney's ultimate goal is to sell access to rides JUST LIKE SIX FLAGS. Six Flags (I went to the one Over Georgia) sells different tiers of access. You can buy the ultimate package (more than the daily ticket) that allows you to go to the front of the line AND repeat the attraction. Disney will being doing this soon. Mark my words. I got banned from a similar site when I said 3 years ago that folks who stay at the high end resorts should get benefits. Now we are seeing the same damn thing. I am an annual ticket holder, but staying off property for the first time..and I cannot use FastPass+. Staying at Windsor Hills for 8 nights is $762..for a 3 br/2bath. I have stayed at Bay Lake Towers for 8 nights and it cost me...$14,000. I stayed at Grand Floridian last June. The balcony was covered in black mold, the fridge didn't work, and the smokers congregated below our window. NOT WORTH $600 A NIGHT. Disney is making a monkey out of people.

Sadly it wouldn't surprise me at all if they didn't start selling this type of pass for the rides and doing away with free fast passes all together. I love going to disney but it does seem to be getting out of hand on pricing for what you get.:sad2:

Wow, very interesting. Haven't been to Six Flags in ages and had no idea they were selling tiered tickets. I guess we will eventually see how this all unfolds in the months to come! Let us know how you like Windsor Hills.

well I wont be biting for definite so I guess its nice the way its setup now but a change to that degree would not be attractive to me any more

I don't see this getting you banned. You aren't saying anything new. Many others on this board have already speculated about same thing. Also, yes you can use FP+ with your AP. Set up an account on MDE, and you can book FP+ in the park.

Not sure why you think you will be banned from this site. Its not owned by Disney. The DIS Boards are an open forum for free, reasoned discussions. As long as you don't go attacking others who may disagree with you, or violate other board guidelines, you won't get banned.

Welcome to the DIS.

You aren't expressing anything that hasn't been expressed already by other posters (on nearly a daily basis since FP+ first began rolling out) so no worries of banning. So long as you are respectful of others, don't use prohibited language etc (might want to check the posting guidelines) you'll be just fine.

As for the pay-for-FP system...if it comes they won't get any of my money for it. I don't buy FOTL passes at Six Flags or USO and I certainly won't pay extra for it at Disney.

WDW started with tiered ticketing, small world was an "A" ticket while space mountain was an "E".

I don't think they will ever be able to sell access to the rides that people want, they just don't have the capacity.

I do think they will use whatever capacity they have though to link FP with onsite stays and I also think resort tiering is coming as well.

The goal here is to fill hotel rooms, not parks.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! ITA 100%

And if they do have a bit of capacity available, I'm thinking their first priority is to ditch free dining as a means of filling rooms.

Sorry I don't understand your reasoning here ..... how will getting rid of the free dining discount fill up more hotel rooms :confused3

They would offer the enticement of extra FP slots to get people to book onsite instead of the enticement of free dining.

How many years have they been saying they want to back off of those discounts? And every year free dining continues to be offered. Because it fills rooms. If they have another means of filling rooms, they won't need to discount as much. Of course, that plan first requires that they get us all used to a lower level of ride access as the norm. That's this awful phase we are in now.

On my set of refrigerator magnets, Small World was an E ticket and there was no Space Mountain yet.

The A tickets were things like the carousel and the Main Street vehicles.

Right, but then Disney went to all-access ticket pricing (i.e. more expensive tickets). So you can see where people would be frustrated that they're paying all-access prices for tiered access to FP+.

Yes sorry, no conspiracy on the dis boards to get you banned lol. OR IS THERE....

;)

honestly though paying for line passes is fairly common now and has been for years. I live by many parks and they all offer it. The difference is they always charged for it. For disney to suddenly change and charge people for something they offered for free for a decade, it would be a PR nightmare. As PP have said, they are much much more likely to offer more FP as a perk somehow to fill money making rooms.

Sorry. GL with the powers at be

Yes.... there is that one *tiny* little detail many overlook.......

I hope they have a "pay extra to skip lines" option. I would certainly be happy to give them my money to skip ahead of the masses.

Nothing new here.

Although getting rid of free dining would be a huge improvement in food quality.

A little :offtopic: but since you asked...

We have stayed at Windsor Hills twice and have another condo booked for our upcoming trip. We absolutely love it!! For less than $800 I get a 3bdrm/2bthrm condo with a full kitchen, eating area, living room area, balcony, and a fullsize washer and dryer. I have access to a beautiful pool and beautiful grounds.

Nothing Disney is going to offer me, with the exception of MUCH lower prices for their resorts, is going to get me to stay there. I have stayed at Caribbean Beach and Yacht Club before and they are nice but not nice enough. And the onsite perks, including FP+, are still not going to be enough to entice me back.

I LOVE going to Disney but if FP+ isn't going to work for me as an offsite guest then I will just spend less time there. I am waiting to see how things look like they will shake out for off-siters before purchasing my tickets. I was going to purchase 7-day park hoppers but I don't know now.
