Ultimate goal of Fastpass+

I agree, and as with the thread I just started, build new headliners and allow SB or pay for FP+ to pay for the construction.

Pick 3 "old" attractions, buy as many new ones as you want for $2.99 or $4.99-maybe some $9.99 if incredible. After they are paid off-they fall into the "free" selections, but now you can pick 4, and eventually 5, 6 or 7.

The only difference I see is you didn't have to pay to access the opportunity to purchase one of those apps.

If I've already paid $100 - $350 to be in the park, my perception might be a little different when I pull up an app and it tells me it would be another $3 for a FP for Space Mountain.

I think that's too Six-Flagish.

You wan't-Space is in the "old" attractions and is therefore free.

Your $100 to $350 is for the park "as is", not with adding $100 million dollar headliners.

I'd pay for front of the line access at Disney. I purchased the VIP package at Universal and had unlimited front of the line access for all attractions all day long. As an added bonus, I got to enjoy the stares and negative comments as I walked by all the people in the 1 - 3 hour standby lines. Those people received in return, my magical smile and wave.

Go Disney! Take my money!!

Most of those other parks do not charge $700 for an annual pass or anywheres near the cost to go to their parks in general. If they then charge on top of that to avoid having to wait 60-90 minutes I tend to think those other parks will get busier.

It is partly because of that high ticket price that I do not think Disney will start selling off FP+ directly like the front of line passes those parks sell.

I don't see them using mm+ to sell extra passes. It's a simple capacity problem. If they sell more FP, the standby lines get longer. Longer standby lines mean more unhappy guests, which will cause more people to abandon Disney. They would get a few $ from wealthy guests, and have thousands of value rooms sitting empty. Raising ticket prices further would have the same effect.

I agree. Disney is Disney because of the PR. It doesn't have amazing thrill rides, it is the "happiest place on earth" and that feeling is how it markets itself. I do not think the $ they could make selling limited numbers of line passes would override that value. Plus they could not charge as much as universal since they cannot offer unlimited FP for every ride. And again, parks like six flags and cedar point did not have FP in place and THEN start charging. They charged from the moment they offered it. Disney more than other parks takes in huge revenue from souveniers, food and hotels. I am thinking of a more advanced version of the receipts they are currently using that offer 20% off in gift shops during busy times of day for a couple of hours to help with crowd control. This all just sounds to me like advanced planning :confused3

BUT, I am still of the opinion that the 3 FP+ is not a number written in stone either. I think they picked a reasonable number (from their data and perspective - I realize many her DON'T see it as a reasonable number) to make available during the rollout. I think that once they have decent data on usage and guest feedback over a decent breadth of time, capacity, etc., that they may tweak that number, or perhaps offer additional "same day" selections to resort guests, etc. Not sure what it will look like, but I am one who actually believes that the word TEST actually means that they are still TESTING the system, and have not finalized things. Heck, they tweaked FP- numerous times through the years!

I also think this testing will change as it goes along. Mostly because a lot of people buy park hoppers, it costs them basically nothing to sell that extra feature, and allowing hopping can actually help with crowd control. It is a pretty nice package and I am thinking they will somehow make FP+ fit this.

ITA! I do not think that Disney will ever emulate other parks in charging for FP+ in such an obvious way, because they have spent decades polishing their image as something different from every other park out there. Will they figure out other ways to use FP+ as an incentive? Sure! I can think of dozens of ways, from giving a "bonus" Fastpass to anyone who dines at a super deluxe restaurant, or spends a certain amount in a shop, to increasing the cost for ypgrading to a Park Hopper, but giving you additional FP+ for a second park each day, to allotting more based on Resort Category. But I stand firm on my prediction that WDW will NEVER make it a simple cash for FP+ transaction - it doesn't fit the image and never will, unless they go back to the old pay per ride model, which they won't, because it wouldn't cover the infrastructure costs for park operations anymore.

I am often reminded of the Disney manta when Universal started selling FOTL passes. "Disney treats each an every guest the same, whether they stay on property or not. We will never change that." (paraphrased, of course)

It looks like the time has come that Universal would be cheaper and easier for families visiting central Florida. Get a great deal on an off-site hotel and buy FOTL passes at Universal...... less money and easier to navigate with children.

JMHO.
