UK couple on vacation do a very good deed.

On the off chance this couple reads the DIS I want to say thanks . There was a blind man on a business trip in Orlando with his seeing -eye dog Devon. They were in a rental home when a very bad storm hit and the dog was spooked and escaped. The UK coupld on vacation found Devon!!!

It is wonderful these folks took the time while on vacation to help this dog and not just ignore him and "let someone else deal with it". If you are dissers or if a UK disser knows these people thank them!!

When I first read about Devon getting spooked and running away my heart broke. I kept following the story really hoping they would find him. I think it is just fntastic what this British couple chose to do, while on vacation . Seems so many people just ignore things rather than get involved. They kept him in their rental for 3 nights, feeding him caring for him. It is just a wonderful story and if this couple happen to be Dissers, I want them to know how many peole are so grateful for their act of kindness. They did not even realize the true magnitude their one act of caring was , Devon was not just a pet he is the owners lifeline to the seeing world.

I'm very glad that there was a happy outcome, but I can't help wondering why they kept the dog for 3 days before contacting the police.

I am guessing they were not sure what to do, and were looking for lost posters. If his collar came off they would have no one to contact. And in the US, sadly, animal control who would have responded will only keep an animal for so many nights and he will be put down. Maybe they spoke to someone in the subdivision where they were staying and were advised do not call wait to see if the owner puts up poster. That is a pretty common scenerio in the US. I have found dogs before and will not call the police, I'll wait and post a lost dog found sign.
He was probably so well behaved they were trying to figure out a way to take hime home. I guess he would have had to been quarantined.
