So DF finally started discussing wedding bits with me today (yay) so I've started putting a spreadsheet together of approximate costs - I know we're not looking until the end of 2014 but just wanted ball park figures.

My question really is around booking of flights and Disney hotels... does everyone book them seperately and if so who through? Travel Agents? Disney themselves? Virgin Holidays perhaps?

I would like to hotel hop a bit, and getting pricing on this isn't really that straight forward, so I thought it would be easier for a travel agent to do this but would that mean more expensive?

We would like to buy our whole party's park tickets, and perhaps upgrade their flights as well, which might turn out very expensive for our Australian party members but hey how often do you get to have a Disney wedding!

With regard to the park tickets, if we have people coming from Australia do we need to buy them a different ticket or can I just buy 12 x 14 day passes from the UK?

Any advice would be fab xx

Hi there!

We are from the UK & having a Disney wedding Oct 2012. We have booked our hotel through Disney direct as they were offering free dining (saves some pennies) flights we will book seperately when they come on sale, we found this was the most cost effective for us. Personally, i recommend doing the booking yourself as travel agents like to add on comission;)
As for our guests we have booked them into a hotel on international drive (cheaper than Disney & also gives us space) which we also booked ourselves online.
I believe you get a discount on park tickets for guests once you have booked a Disney wedding but i am not 100% on this & i dont know how much of a discount- we are another 4 months out yet.

Hope that helps a little! x

Thats a great help thank you x

Had a little brain wave in the car on the way home, my family I think are more Villa people rather than hotel - Mum likes her own space! So if they decide to come we might book a Villa for the two weeks, then during our 'mini-moon' DF and I can check out the hotels and extras we want to do alone.

Trying to get everyone together is such a nightmare... we decided on the Disney wedding as it was sort of half way (loosly ish) between our two families, but he thinks his parents still might not come, they really don't do the flying thing very well. Then he says to me that he would be happy with just the two of us and his two kids... well I'm over the moon at that! Thats all I really wanted to start with in all honesty!

I think we are still going to invite everyone, then let them make the decision. Of course we would love to have them there but first and foremost we will be there, and thats what counts the most.... we've both been married before they've already seen a wedding hehehe

We originally booked our family into villas but a couple dropped out so they all said they would rather be in a hotel, it has cost everyone a little more but they are comfortable that everything they need will be on the doorstep on international drive. If you could get a villa that sleeps 8 and everyone splits the cost it will save them alot, for flights it is around £500 per person depending on what time you book.

All you can do is give everyone a rough guide of prices etc and go from there. We honestly didnt expect any of our family to come, we thought we would be doing it on our own, but it turns out there will be around 17-18 of us so it has worked out perfect! :goodvibes

I say go for it, do what you want to do, if they really want to be there then they will!

I was talking to my mum earlier today and she reminded me that they have a time share with Wyndham, and they have a resort right next to DTD! So that sorts them out! Frees up a bit of extra money to do the extras like take them out for meals and buy their park tickets for them.

I think I've decided to send out some save the date cards/magnets to everyone we want to invite at the end of this year/early next year, that gives everyone 3 years to save/make a decision as to if they can come or not... we won't need final numbers until early 2014 anyway!

Aww that works out perfect :-)
Well they cant complain they arent getting plenty of notice can they - plenty of time to save!

Good luck in all your planning (and persuading!!)
