Uh-Oh now I'm worried about POP

I always take what I read with a grain of salt. People who love one place, may never leave their home and have nothing to compare it to. Perhaps the person posting the negative review is some mean old man, who hates everything. ;) Maybe someone raving about a certain hotel takes valium and drinks so they think EVERYTHING is ok. Who knows. :confused3

I was ROFL!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:
It's true though... not everyone is going to be pleased with the same situation. 10 of us could go to the same resort at the same time and get rooms in the same area and we are all going to have different experiences.

I was one of the posters that gave a negative review of POP (we switched mid trip to WL at the ;last minute) but I did like the rooms. We did not have any bugs in the room. My main issues were with crowds at the buses (but we did not leave early so maybe that was our mistake-though it is a vacation and we like to sleep in a little rather than have to worry about having to get up early so we can find a table for breakfast) and the other issue was the pool noise. I have to say that if you are getting a preferred room, ask for a non pool side location. We might have been able to get up earlier if we were not kept up until 1am with the yelling at the pool. We were in the 60's building (Baloo and Mowgli) on the second floor. We also have stayed at All Star movies when it was just DH and myself and enjoyed it which is why we thought we would like Pop. We also did not like AKL or Poly so we thought we would be dissapointed with WL as well, but we wanted to try it out. After we swtiched we were impressed and we loved WL. It just goes to show that you never know what you personally will think of a resort until you and your family try it out. Just remember that Disney is very accomadating, and if you are unhappy for any reason you can switch if you want. There is no reason to put up with being unhappy if you don't like where you are staying, and if you do, great!

We just got back. We saw only the lovebugs outside. It was clean and the deco is neat to look at. My major complaint was we heard everything! We had a fourth floor at the opposite end from the elevator (DD hates them any way). So we had to walk 4 flights of steps! We were so far away from the food court, we only used our mugs once a day. Actually paid $2.50 for a bottle out of the machine. Never again will we stay in the 90's bldg. Last year we were ground floor in the 70's bldg and thought that was far! We will pay the extra for a preferred room or stay elsewhere. We could not find a table at the food court either. We ate late breakfasts at 9:30 or 10:00 and the lines were so long. It wasn't like that last year though.

I forgot about those. We saw tons of them everywhere. There was a lot of love the 10 days we were there. :teeth:

I am someone who did not want to stay at a value. Resisted it for 10 years actually. Then I decided to give POP a try. Only issue I had with it was the buses, too slow and too crowded (granted, this was the end of July.). The resort I thought was really cute and both my DS's loved it. I liked it enough that I am taking my older son back for his birthday in December. We had a room facing both Epcot and MK and saw both sets of fireworks nightly. :)

I thought the stay thing last year when we booked POP but I went not expecting much but a clean room and we loved it. It was clean, cool (temp wise and it was hot for May) and everyone was very nice. We enjoyed ourselves there. Remember some people are expecting alot when they stay in a Disney Resort - for the price POP was great. Our moueskeeper was awesome - she even lower the thermostat so it would be even colder in our room and always left towel animals and lots of towels. For a Disney Value Resort - I would definitely stay there again. Alot of people post bad reviews for one or two things that they didn't like but maybe you or I would overlook. You will be fine - its a great place.

Another pro PC post! Did I love it? No. Was it neat, clean and an excellent value? YES! I was there in December 2004 and will be returning in December 2005. My preference would be a deluxe for the amenities, but my budget says value for the number of days I want to visit WDW this trip.

For a quiet standard room, request the top floor (4th floor) on the Hour Glass Lake side of the 50s Building C. Building C (some of the signs say Building 3--'tis a bit confusing!) is closer to Centennial Hall than Buildings A & B (A is closest to the parking lot of the 3). While you might prefer an end room (if available), I usually request one about mid-point. It minimizes the noise around the elevators, and eliminates the walk to the far end of the corridor!

I'm not sure if there is a resort map on this site, but find one. Look at it and determine which buildings and locations appear to suit your needs best and keep the information in the back of your mind.

Talk to the CM when you check in. Find out what is available. If you happen to get one who says this is where you are and doesn't provide options, ask for a supervisor. I had no problems at PC (did experience an issue checking in at CSR that was quickly resolved by another CM--my only negative resort experience!), and the CM pointed out the benefits of various locations that were available.

By the way, I've never arrived at WDW before about 5 p.m.--usually 6 or 7 p.m. I fly from the west coast, and even with the earliest flight, it's still difficult to arrive at WDW much before 5 p.m.

We were on the ground floor of the 70's building. We were on the corner and didnt have any trouble with noise. We had hourglass lake on one side and a twister board in front of our room. My kids loved it. The buses were crowed but I would rather stand in one line for the bus than make all those stops for moderates, but that is my oppinon. We have stayed at all the moderats and at WL and AKL. AKL is my childrens favorite with POP coming in 2nd. Have a great trip.

when my kids were younger we stayed at ASM. rooms were adequate and the hotel was great. we had a great time there.

we managed to save some extra money on our next trip and went to WL. everything was so perfect there. my favorite. on our last trip i went with my DS#2 for a few extra days before the rest of family arrived at SSR and we decided to stay at POP. well we really liked POP. the buses were running on a fairly good schedule, yes the food court was crowded and noisy, after all it was july 4th week, so that was to be expected. was the resort too crowded? not too bad. in fact if i had the choice to stay for 4 days at WL or 10 at POP i would choose POP and not be unhappy one bit.

we had a great time just walking around the resort looking at the icons, the area around the bowling pin pool was made to look like an alley and just looking at the great memoriabilia in the lobby was fun.

POP is what it is a value resort but IMHO you do get value for your money when you stay at POP

We will be staying at POP for the 3rd time in Dec. I really like this resort. Both of our stays so far have been in the 80's, this year I requested 50's just for a change of scenery. The walk to Classic Hall is not bad, there are some shortcuts especially for the busstop if you go through the parking lot. The rooms were always clean & never much noise was heard from our rooms. The 1rst year we were on the 1rst floor by the computer pool, it wasn't bad. I like being on the 1rst floor. The gift shop is nice, it has a great selection. We spent time every night looking around in there. My DD (12) loved the arcade. We saved her tickets she won there & will add to them this year, she is saving for a nicer prize which requires you to have lots of tickets! MY DD's favorite thing is that she can get an icee in her refillable mug as many times as she chooses, I guess icees are popular with kids. The buses are not bad, but we never waited more than 15 min. The only downside is Pop's bus stop at the parks, except for Studios, is the farthest away. Sometimes they have as many as 3 buses come at once at the end of the night to take you from the parks back to POP. Have a great time & don't worry, you're going to be at DISNEY!!!! ENJOY YOUR TRIP & special time with your kids! :earsboy:

I took Mom to Pop for her 63rd b-day 2 years ago.

We had stayed at CSR and POFQ. Mom liked Pop best of all! We stayed in the 50's building...behind tramp and near the lake. When we checked in we asked for the quietest part of the resort. Even then it wasn't far to walk to anywhere!

We had a car so we didn't use the bus system and arranged to eat at off peak times so didn't notice any crowds.

The rooms were small but plenty big for two "Pooh sized" women. Mousekeeping was excellent.

The picture next to Mom's bed had many of the "classic" characters....at the very bottom was Gus the Mouse...looking over Mom while she slept....

Mom said it was her bestest birthday ever....
