Originally, we were going to go to WDW in April 2005. I booked the room with BCV at the 11 month window and discovered later that the dates are bad. So, I changed it to May 2005. However, since I had to borrow points and May is cheaper than April now, I have 39 extra points. What should I do with them?

editted to add: we only bought enough points to go every other year. So, the next visit is scheduled for Dec 2006. Our use month is November so, I can't bank the points for the next trip. UGH.....

Stay an extra day...or rent them and get $390+ to spend during your trip!

Are all the points for the ressie borrowed points? If you have some current year points in the ressie, you can call MS and have the re-allocate the points on the ressie. This way, you'll have 2005 use year points available, which can be banked into 2006.

I would find a way to use the points on that trip, even if I had to borrow a few more to make it work. Any excuse for an extra day or two at WDW is a good solution :)

I would reallocate the points make sure they use the borrowed points first then the current points..

I had a similar situation with 2 trips booked. Wasn't definite on travel for trip #2. I did call MS and they jiggled so that the borrowed points were used first. That way if I had to cancel trip #2, I could have banked THOSE points. It required a bit of time. The cm essentially cancelled the one reservation and re-booked it with the other points, checking of course for availability. It worked great, and as it turns out, I was able to take both wonderful trips!

Good luck. You will learn all the tricks from the smarties here on the Boards... These guys know everything. :)

Thanks for the advice. To clarify, the CM is used the borrowed points first. I am left with 39 current year points. That I can bank for 2006 but they would expire by November 2006 and we aren't going back until December 2006. So, they'd become useless to us. Anyways, my dh isn't really interested in renting. The only night we can add on is Friday night. So, should we stay in Studio and move the next day or pick one of the hotels and use our points there?

If renting the points is not an option, then staying in a studio or one of the resorts is about your only way to burn those points on this trip. I'd hate to move for one night, but I think I'd hate even more to "lose" 39 points due to expiration.

Good luck...whether to stay in a studio or another resort is strictly up to you. I suppose a studio in the same resort (BCV), would probably be the easiest way to go.

You have pointed out one of the issues that can come up if you are planning the "every other year" scenario with your points.

Good luck!

You mean bank into 2005 use year? If you have a Nov. use year, does that mean you are still in 2003? You will get your 2004 in Nov.?

You say you only have enough points to go every other year. Well, with 39 points, if you can come up with 1 more point some how, you can get yourself a nice little 5 day/4 night vacation. OKW studio during choice time is 8 points/night for a Sun-Thurs stay. I would bank the points into your 2004 use year, and your 2004 won't expire until Oct 2005, take a 2005 trip. What a bonus, you bought thinking you could only go every other year , and if you go in 2005, you'll have gone 3 years in a row.
