UGH!! What is wrong with children today??

This thread is exactly why I think twice before I ever post asking for advice. The OP has had her spelling, teaching credentials, where her mother parked her car, her attitude questioned.
I guarantee most of you criticizing havent ever been in a classroom faced with situations like this. The bottom line is some parents could care less if their kids have manners and do what they are supposed to do at school. Unfortunately, thanks to those who choose not to parent, the school environment has alot of children who cant behave.Teachers spend a good part of their day disciplining, which takes away from learning, and the rest of the class has to endure it as well.

The same could be said about the boy and his mom--couldnt it? Their actions have been criticized too. And they dont even get to see whats being discussed about them. It would be neat to be able to see the boys and the moms version of it here.
IMHO, her school main problem is not hiring enough paras to watch over the kids during recess and lunch while she should be getting a break.

:thumbsup2 ::yes:: ::yes::
I'm always amazed by the number of people responding to these threads who have huge chips on their shoulders re: teachers. I can only wonder what their kids are like in the classroom... :confused3 :sad2:

Also, would like to point out for the OP to remember for her one problem student she probably has 12-23 wonderful students so the majority of her class is wonderful, easy kids. (I hope)

Sounds like the child is begging for some sort of attention.
If the parent is obviously not much of a parent, this child probably needs some sort of attention desperately.
And we all know that sometimes kids misbehave on purpose just for attention.

I'd be seeing about getting the parent in for a conference along with the principal and the school counselor.

HOW will this parent ever know that this teacher is venting? I don't get the fuss about this being discussed on a public forum. So what? No one here has a clue who this is about so what's the big deal? :confused3

I think this is dealing with my post so I'll respond. I don't think it would be too hard for this child's mom to figure out that they are talking about her/her child if she happened to be reading these boards. For example, she would know that her child had been in trouble for breaking a gym window with the kickball, she would know that he got in trouble for being outside playing kickball when he was not supposed to be, she would know that he got in trouble for hitting this teacher's mothers car with the kickball, she would know that she got awakened by this teacher calling her at 11:30 am, etc., etc. Am I wrong to feel that she could figure this out? :confused3

And just for the record, I for one am not one who has a "huge" chip on my shoulder (as described in an above post) as far as teachers go. I love teachers. I appreciate everything they do. I've never had a bad relationship with either of my children's teachers. I don't blame them one bit for disciplining my child in the class, he has always deserved it when it has happened. And some of my best friends are teachers as well as my niece. I would never bad mouth teachers. I have a tremendous amount of respect for them and what they do. If I sounded as if I were badmouthing teachers in any way, please accept my apologies. It was not intended.

My point I was trying to make is that I would be very upset if I read my child's teacher posting negatively about my child on a public forum. But yes, you're right, it goes both ways, parents are always on here badmouthing teachers too. I do understand that. I'm just saying that my feeling as a parent would be very hurt to learn that my child's teacher was so frustrated with my child that they vented here. And again, I don't think it would be hard to figure out that this might be about her child if the mother happened to be lurking on this board. JMO.

I am a teacher and I deal with these types of situations every day. And I STILL question why this child was allowed to play outside unsupervised. It's almost as if the OP set him up to fail. I never let a child with impulse control problems out of my sight during unstructured time.

Then maybe the community board should be shut down. If you can't vent on an anonymous discussion board, what's the point?

Not flaming, but I think she is trying to say that if the mother of this child sees this it is for one hurtful and two could get her into a lot of trouble with her boss. I doubt anyone else really cares that this was posted since it really doesn't have anything to do with us, but she was trying to warn the op that the mother may read this board too. It doesn't even have to be the parent to see it. It can be someone from the school that knows the story or a friend or family member of the mom that would know the story. When you post something concerning your job you are taking a risk. Most of us have done it at one point or another, but teachers seem to have stricter rules on usage of the internate then the rest of us have. Again not a flame, but an answer to your question.

Thank You...

Very well said!

PS: I thought this thread was dead already.

Let's subpoena the OP and grill her under hot lights so that we can determine exactly what happened, what kind of teacher she is, why the kid was outside, what his homelife is like, etc, and then and only then can we determine whether or not the OP has the "right" to come her and give us her "sad" story about a bad day she had at school. We know that teachers don't really have the right to discipline kids, god help the teacher that tries it with ours! And don't even think a teacher for a moment better say they are frustrated with our angels --

After all, we probably know better anyway -- we always do.

Just in case it is not completely obvious, I am :rolleyes1 and :sad2: and :rolleyes2 .

Nope, can't let this one die...

Two new posts with SEVEN negative icons!

Hey, I don't use spell check either. and several teachers here have used this to attack me. One actually went thru several old posts looking for errors!!! So, actually, I think it is a bit funny to see the tables turned.
