Ugh! Waitlist Vent.

Ugh, My December trip is a mess.

I have:
12/24-12/27 - AKV-Club Level
12/27-12/31 - AKV Standard View Jambo
12/31 BWV Boardwalk View
1/1-1/4 VGF Standard View

I had the BWV studio booked all the way through 1/4 before I picked up the VGF reservation. I have been waitlisted for 12/30 in a BWV studio since January. I thought today that I would really like to waitlist for 12/27-12/30 for a BWV Studio and only have to move twice. So, I called MS up and asked to have a WL for those dates and they won't do it! There is a rule that says you cannot have waitlists with consecutive dates. What a complete PITB! What skin off their noses is it if I want to waste my two WLs with consecutive dates?!? Seriously. That rule is a solution in search of a problem.

I thought about that but don't want the system to combine the two with a new WL inception date.

I'd do as Bill suggested. The system isn't going to combine the waitlist. Some CM's would even set it up but it's easier to just do it online.

OK, I crossed my fingers and set up the waitlist. It looks good and wasn't combined. Thanks!

I've WL'd my BWV dates consecutively online. Been WL'd since 7 months out. 10/20-10/22, 10/22-10/24. Didn't know this was against the rules. Why would it matter to them? I've always heard you have better luck WLing shorter stays than longer ones so it seems like a good idea to break it up. I have OKW reserved as a backup for those 4 nights if BWV doesn't come through.

I was peeved when the CM wouldn't let me WL so I left my name and phone number on the survey at the end. Someone from DVC called me back today and told me that the CM *should* have allowed me to WL for the 3 days prior to the single day. She said that it was against the rules to WL for two consecutive single days, but a multi-day and a single day were OK. She said the rule was in place was because of "renters". I said that I didn't understand what kind of advantage two back-to-back single day WLs would give a renter and that since they limited us to only 2 waitlists we should be able to use them any way we wanted. I asked her to pass my comments on to the PTB. She also said that they would talk to the CM and set her straight on the rules.

I think the rule is that we're not supposed to waitlist day-by-day anymore, only the whole group of days you want. I don't know why they made that rule, and I don't know what it has to do with renters. But I'm glad they saw that your situation fell within the rules.

Glad it worked out...I know I had done a waitlist in the past for one day and then for one that included that day as part of a multiday waitlist.

I do love though, that the online system lets you set it up which makes it much easier...

Thanks! I would have just done it online, but I called to change my 12/30 WL to automatically cancel my 12/30 AKV reservation and I didn't set it up that way originally. I wanted to make sure that it only canceled part of the reservation and not the whole thing and I thought I would kill 2 birds with 1 stone while I was on the phone.

Now if all of you could keep your fingers crossed for me ...
