Ugh! Sometimes it's so hard to do the right thing! long

This is what my parents did: Both grew up on Ohio, mom's family mostly moved out to California, and that's where we lived. Because of finances, my dad would take trips back to Ohio to visit his family. Each trip he took one kid (there are four of us) in rotation. It worked out well. I would have very few memories of my grandmother if they waited until they could afford for all of us to go.

We drove out a couple of times as a family, camping to save money. Luckily for my parents, the old van didn't really have air conditioning so the heat made us kids kind of groggy.

This is ment to help but I realize that it may just make you more homesick. I hope it doesn't.

Remember the brown skies, the sewage filled beaches (because there was a huge sewage spill a few days ago), taking 45 minutes to go 10 miles, drive by shootings, all those greetings telling you're number 1...

Actually I heard about the sewage spill. Redondo beach, wasn't it? Too bad we used to go there all the time to the pier and eat the buffet at El Torito.
Okay, now that did make it worse!

Anyhow thanks for all the kind words guys. I won't know for sure if he's going or not until it gets closer. So, who knows, there is still time for us to win the lotto.

I agree - what a nice thing to do for your husband and his family. I just lost my own dad and treasure the time I did have with him. You're doing a good thing.
