On 12/29/05 - I noticed that I had a Disney Rewards card that expired on 12/31/05. I called to check the balance and it was 24 Disney Dollars. I asked about carrying it over, etc and whoever I spoke with said no it could not be done.

So I decided to look for something on the disneyshopping.com website so that I could at least use up the dollars. I found two towels. The estimated amount was around $29. I entered my Disney Reward info so that it would deduct the 24 Disney dollars first. I then entered my Paypal Mastercard info so that it would cover the ~$5 difference. (I sell on ebay and had enough in there to cover the difference - but NOT for the whole 29 bucks - but I thought that was fine because my Disney Dollars would cover it) (and keep it mind I wasn't setting out to make a 29 dollar order with Disney - just trying to use up the dollars so we wouldn't lose them!).

I now see that they tried to charge my Paypal card on Jan 3rd for the whole $28.91. It was denied - of course. Now I'm on hold with the company (for what has been 20 minutes so far.....I did have a fellow come on about 3 minutes ago - and he said he would have to transfer me to Customer Service - ***? what was he? So now I sit on hold again!)

So now I'm OUT the Disney Reward dollars! (I could have applied them to a reservation but we hadn't set our dates yet and I didn't think this would be a big deal at all - since it's DISNEY and their reward dollars!)

The order also shows that it's been shipped but it has not arrived yet. I don't want it if I have to pay the whole amount. I was just trying to use up dollars that we had earned!

So am I out of luck? Can I cancel the order if I receive it? Can Disney do anything to get payment from those Disney dollars that expired on 12/31?
Will I ever get off hold? I really wish I had a speaker phone right about now - AAAAHHH!

Okay - after being on hold for about 35 minutes (!) - I finally spoke with a CSR - who spoke to his manager, who spoke to his manager - he came back and said that Disney would be going back and looking at all the orders from 12/31 (and before) and applying the Disney Reward card dollars then charging the balance.

what a relief! It wasn't entirely too much money in the long run - but we didn't *need* two Tinkerbell towels for 29 dollars- but they will be fun when we get them if I only paid less than 5 bucks total for them.
