Hi
I have come here before seeking advice about a job I have been jockeying for since February. Ok, I took the application to the HR guy and you know when someone just doesn't know what they are doing? Ok, a week passed after I turned in the application and the man I had spoken with a few months before told me to come in during this month and talk to him. So, I go back a week later after not hearing anything for the DOR.
Someone remembered me being in there and let me use her cell to call and leave a message. A couple days roll by, then he calls at almost 7pm. I go in the next morning for the interiew, dressed professionally with another resume in hand and I know opening a new business is hectic, but I waited for 2 hours and he would come by and tell me to not leave and be patient. Then he asks if I can come back later on in the day-there were other applicants there and it was like he told everyone to come at the same time. I come back later and have to wait almost another half hour.
Now, the HR lost my application and then tried to blame it on the main guy, but I just filled out another application. So we start talking, he has to answer the cell phone and walk away or someone is interrupting to ask what to do next. Good job, you hired people who don't have intiative. Excuse me but do you want to hire someone or just have someone wait for it to be convienant for you to talk and watch you talk on the phone or talk to other people?
So then he says he wants me to meet the GM-who I have had contact via email so he walks off comes back and says the GM is busy and he-the DOR will call me so I can meet the GM and get things started, this was last tuesday. I call friday and leave a message to see how things are progressing and thank him for the other day. He hasn't returned my call. And I was offered another job someplace else but turned it down and now I am getting frustrated and P000000 that this guy has not called me back. Like I wrote, I know it is crazy getting a new business ready, but he didn't seem how to manage his time. If you are holding interviews, you need to concentrate on the potential employees unless the place is on fire. If you give people your cell number and have them call you by your first name, call them back if they call you.
Ok, I somewhat feel better after writing this. I just want this job SO BADLY and I am truly qualified and was everything he was looking for. So I have to wait and see I guess, but not too much longer.

Hi Mylilnikita!

I am in the job market myself and I think the one question you should ask yourself is are you sure you really want this particular job? The reason I say this is they don't appear to have their act together right now. This may just be a temporary situation but..... Look at it from an employers perspective in that they sure would not hire people who appeared to them as not having their act together. Also, think about how they might treat you or other employees down the road should you end up being hired. This could be a sign of how they handle most situations such as HR issues or future salary issues. IMO I would give this particular position/company some more thought.
I wish you all the best. :cool1:

A job interview really should be a 2 way street. You need to make sure this is the job and company for you. Otherwise, you'll be miserable and looking for another job.

Are you sure you want to work for this company/guy?

An Update: Well, I ended up going by the hotel today and saw the DOR. Now, I am so pissed I want to take his job from him :furious: He acted all friendly and I said didn't you get my messages asking you to call me back and he says yes. He said to be patient because they are still deciding. I said the last time I talked to him he wanted me to meet the GM and was under the impression that it was a good sign why would you want me to meet the GM if you didn't want me? So he kept sayng to be patient, I said if I was patient enough to wait 2 and half hours just to talk to him the other day, the least he could do was to honor his word he would call me back so I could meet the GM. I am so upset :sad2: I want this job, but now I would rather have his job. Maybe I am old fashioned but if you say you are going to call someone that is your word and if you don't have your word then you have no integrity and no intergrity means no one should respect you. I am starting the job hunt tomorrow, I cannot believe I wasted months talking back and forth to the GM and this guy.
