I had wanted red cabinets since seeing someones cabinets here on the DIS. I have 2 different reds.. Barn Door Red and Merlot. I didn't like either one against my wall color...
Then, we thought, an offwhite creamy color would be really pretty. No, that looks ugly too. Now I have paint swatches on my cabinets... lol

This is our wall color... what color do you think would look good? We can't afford new cabinetry, and we will be changing the hardware.. Our color theme nearby is dark woods, some black and browns...

dang..wanted to make a poll, but can't figure out how to go back

Do you think white??
what color do you suggest?

Here is a great website of kitchens for inspiration. They even have cabinets categorized by color.

Here is a creamy kitchen you might like that used divine white from Sherwin Williams with a brown glaze on top:

Also, black painted cabinets are popular right now, as well as two tone cabinets usually using white/cream on top and a darker color on the lower cabinets.

Thanks!

We were actually just contemplating black too... because we do have black accents adjacent in the dining area/eat in kitchen... I've just been afraid black would close it in more...but it would look pretty against that wall color.

I actually think I'd like black (except for the dust!) I'n help. You know I have issues of my own trying to coordinate everything. They are asking me every single last detail and 1/2 of the time I am clueless. Who eve thinks about which way the cabinet door should open? ;)

Good luck!!!! I love your wall color. :)

That bowl you have standing up in the corner of your counter is a nice reddish color and looks good against the wall color.

My living room walls are the same color. I agree with black, I think it would look nice.

I agree, I like that red....:)

Yeah..that red bowl looks good...but the cabinets didnt' turn out so hot...lol

My living room walls are this color too, it all flows together.

We are thinkin' black :goodvibes:thumbsup2

I think it depends on the wood type of your existing cabinets. Are they oak where the grain will show thru once you paint them?
That was the issue I faced when I recently remodeled my kitchen. I was keeping some of the old oak cabinets and having them painted/ stained to match the new ones.
It was really helpful that my kitchen designer showed me samples of how they would turn out before I choose the color. Since I didn't like the way the oak looked in lighter colors I went with an espresso brown which is really dark with a few maple red for accent.
If you don't have to worry about the grain, I like the creamy off white glaze where there is a reddish rust color showing thru around the seams of the door trim. It would look really nice with your paint color, but I don't think you would go wrong with white or black either.
Good luck!
