oh I am sorry, our system shuts down at 11:30 we can't check any availability for you tonight...you can call back tomorrow at 7:00 am.....oh my gosh can you believe it!!!

OK, now here is why I was calling...I am having a major conflict with myself...not thinking I am normal anymore...I originally had Pop(which I absolutely love) booked for $79.00 a night...this was for a preferred room...then called and got an awesome rate for WL...154.00 a night including tax....now the more I look at pics of the WL, it looks beautiful, but this is my moms first time, and Ijust think Pop is funner..gee I hope I am making some kind of sense here...LOL....so anyway, I am really confused as what to do...should I keep WL, or switch back to POP??? PLEASE someone help me stop the insanity!!!! :confused3 :confused3

I've stayed at Pop. I've visited WL.

Personally I think they are both great. WL is closer to MK and I think there is a lot of fun stuff to do there like the horseback riding, petting zoo, Hoop Dee Doo etc... Pop is fun and much more brightly colored. But aside from the pool and arcade, there is not as much to do at Pop.

I'd probably stick with WL at that rate. You never know when you will be able to get that good of a rate there again. :)

I've stayed at WL and only visited Pop but I'd keep your WL reservation. We've stayed at 6 Disney resorts now and this is the one my family keeps talking about. We are staring to plan for our 2006 trip and WL has been mention about 1000 times. I think the resort is extremely luxurious and you are only a quick boat ride from the MK. We also used the boats to get us to the Contemporary and used the monorail to get to Epcot. The CM's here are SOOOOO nice and friendly. I loved Artist Point and WCC too. I say stay at WL. Try the walking path to FW if you like to walk. I think it was just under a mile if memory serves correctly. We walked it quite leisurely and it only took us about 20mins. Have fun choosing.

Your mom will love the WL less people very nice setting the theming is just outstanding and for that price it's a no brainer IMHO for a first experiance at disney do it for mom too many people at pop or all stars ,also there are some nice dinning options there :cool1:

Stay with the Wilderness Lodge, unless your budget demands otherwise. Deluxe resorts provide much more when it comes to services and amenities...not to mention location and transportation.

There are other factors to consider that you have not provided details about, but traveling with grandparents (if you have kids) can be stressfull if you are planning an extended stay at WDW. In these cases, it is great to be staying at a deluxe resort that is close to the park which provides an array of other interests, options and activities to allow for "slow/down" time for either group.

Bring your phone bill to Guest Relations, explain what happened, and ask for a perk, perhaps some complimentary souvenirs or ice creams or fast passes.

Reading between the lines I guess you have already stayed at Pop Century so you would not go wrong staying at a different resort this time.

Want to leave things the way they are and after you get there ask for, as the perk suggested above, spending the last few nights at Pop Century at the originally quoted discount rate via a last minute reservation change? (this approach needs to be done as soon as you get there)

cra-z-4-dizney,

Actually I did the same thing. I went from POP to Contemporary when the AP's came out.

you & your mom will LOVE it!

pop is ok, but with that WL rate, go for it! after a LONG day in the parks, it is AWESOME to come HOME to the WL! it is relaxing ( well, at least so much more than pop!) and the grounds are beautiful! i think pop is great for a family w/ kiddies, but if it is you & your mom, she will appreciate the lodge's look & feel! i've never had a bad exp at the WL, never will! once you go, you're hooked! good luck & have a great trip! it's always fun to bring a newbie!

WL is way fun IMO. :) Some fun/different/neat things to do there that you can't do at Pop:

  • Hidden Mickey hunt
  • rent water sprite or several other types of water craft
  • watch the geyser erupt
  • watch the Electrical Water Pageant from the dock
  • take the boat to MK!
  • sit by the fireplace in the evening
  • explore the fireplace -- it's a representation of the geologic strata of the Grand Canyon!
  • soak those park-worn feet in the hot tub
  • rent a surrey bike and go for a spin
  • take the "Wonders of the Lodge" tour
  • ask for ketchup at Whispering Canyon Cafe ;)
  • enjoy a delicious meal at Artist Point

We love the WL. I would definately stay there. I haven't been to the POp though. I'd still stay at the WL.
