Ugh...just tasted some rotten salsa!

I just opened a jar of Tostitos Salsa. The code says "20JUL06A2021 45" so I assumed it meant that it was good until July. Nope...it smelled really weird, kind of like alcohol. Well then I decided to taste it....ugh worst thing I've ever tasted!!! Where is that puking smiley. I never knew salsa could go rotten!

No it smelled horrible, like alcohol but I tried a taste and spit it out. Worst thing I've tasted in my life!

Sealed correctly, something like salsa should last for a long time, well past expiration. Maybe it was a batch problem or wasn't sealed right.

I don't know why you tasted it even though it smelled bad...

Was it sealed or did you open it before? If you opened it before, it should be fine as long as you put it in the fridge after.

I've tasted some fresh, homemade salsa in Texas that I thought had some ingredients in it that had gone bad, but the locals who were with me assured me that it was perfectly good.

Where did you find the code with the date on it?

I just got a jar of Tostitos salsa out of my pantry to check the date on it & there isn't one to be found. I just bought it this week at Target.
