OK, so I called DVC a bit ago to request the nights surrounding my DCL trip...

Apparently, there are 0 rooms availalbe at ANY DVC resort for October 7, 2007...

Someone please tell me THIS can't be true??!?? Something just did not seem right in the MS person relaying me that information...

would this be columbus day weekend?

perhaps if you WL:wizard:

It is... But at least in the Northeast, Columbus Day is not a business holiday...

I've made ressies in short order for Christmas and New Years before so this really irked me...

And I requested any resort, Studio or 1 Bedroom... Plenty of inventory for the Saturday, no rooms for Sunday...

That's fine but my point being I've booked on shorter notice before for Christmas and other 'minor' holidays like Pres. Day, Martin Luther King, etc. and never have had an issue...

And by 'minor' I mean holidays where offices are not necessarily closed... Mine is open MLK, Pres. and Columbus Day...

It is getting VERY tough to book during F & W and early December. Sun.-Thurs. is tougher than weekend. So I am not at all surprised that your date is booked. However, since you are willing to do any DVC and either a studio or 1 bedroom, a waitlist request should be almost a slam-dunk. Sorry that you are disappointed, but good luck. Hang in there. This is the new reality.

I mean the thing is I'm only staying to fly home on Monday after my 7 day Eastern Disney Cruise...

So I was just looking for Saturday and Sunday night... Got Saturday no problem...

I know this is not DVC but for such a short time, save the points and do the POP, you'll have fun.

Not the same time frame, but last night I tried to make a ressie for 8/13-8/16 and MS guy couldn't find a single studio or 1br dvc property wide. He was shocked. All I know, is if it's that full, I don't want to be there then.

2 weeks ago, I tried for a studio at any resort for Oct 7 & 8 and nothing was availble. There was a 1 bedroom at AKLV however for the night of the 7th only.

Have you tried booking on cash? CRO might have inventory avail. Best wishes!

We are there for columbus week this year too and booked at 11 months. It's always packed to the gills. I've been somewhat lucky here and there getting a room within 90-120 days out. I have to admit, though, that my expectations wane greatly under 7 months.

To confirm what MS told you, I too called for that same weekend y-day and was told the same thing.
All DVC's completely booked for the night of the 7th. I waitlisted, but no biggie I was just trying to squeeze in 1 more trip before Christmas.

I think it is the F&W festival too. All the big discounts end in September and MS said a SSR studio for that night would be around $250 with the discount.

The bottom line is that it's becoming more difficult to book. Members need to start planning as close to 11 months out as possible and certainly before the seven -month window opens.

I'm thinking all those 'developers points" from the sales promo may be partly responsible, too. Add that to a minor holiday and Food & Wine.

That whole week is a fall break in our school system. We're going but staying at another TS. I think with the economy improving more people can travel. We seem to be booking something somewhere every school break our kids have this coming year. Hope the parks aren't too slammed in Oct.

My 2c...

Kids are off, weather is nice, F&W and MNSSHP & Chuck S beat me to it when he brought up the possibility of the developer points having an affect as well.

Hope you get some WL pixiedust:

we started waitlisting in early JANUARY for an Oct 7 BWV studio

after 6 months of no waitlist change, i gave up: changed our air & cancelled our BWV 1 bdrm "back-up ressie" (not fans of moving on vacation ;) ) .

so, yes, oct 7 will be tough to get now.........

A lot of schools have fall breaks in October. Plus, the Food and Wine and Mickey's Not so Scary party is going on. Plus, the discounts end in September - so DVC studios would be even more of a bargain for point renters. Anytime there is a potential for a long weekend getaway (around a holiday) I've found that rooms are harder to book. The same thing goes for good prices on airfare to do a long weekend getaway if there's any kind of a holiday.

We have noticed since we joined almost 6 years ago that it is a lot more important to book at the 11 month window than what it used to be. Between all the internet sites and books that promote renting DVC points to get a bargain, not to mention the fact that DVC has grown a lot, means you have to book early for certain times of the year.

So, what you're saying is that I should not get my hopes up... Well I certainly do not want to pay to stay, that's the point of me 'pre-paying' for DVC...
