to drink that is. I'm trying to cut back on the amount of coke I drink (drop a few pounds). So I'm following the 8 glasses of water, and water is soo healthy for you but It is absolutely the most tasteless stuff. :goodvibes
Just doesn't quench my thirst at all. I do like grape juice and koolaide but some has as much sugar as soda. :confused3
**sighs*** maybe I'm having coke withdrawl, it's only been 1 day on water and already I'm ready to spike it with some rum or something just to give it flavor.

You're having Coke withdrawl, LOL! :lmao: I am right there with you. I gave up Coke/Pepsi for Lent. The first few days, I was like, NOTHING tastes good.

Now I can't get enough tea. It has the water I need, and no calories.

Try Crystal Light... minimal to no calories, and GREAT flavor. :thumbsup2

Add lemon or lime... I drink primarily water, but I sure do enjoy it more when there is lemon or lime to squeeze into it. I'm also hopelessly addicted to sparkling water.

I add a splash of orange juice or apple cider to my water sometimes to give it flavor since it does get monotonous drinking plain water all the time.

I also make citrus water by putting slices of lemon, lime and/or orange into a pitcher and filling it with plain water, then chilling it in the fridge. This is a nice thing to serve at a backyard party too.

I would try and stick to the water. I basically never drank water until 2001. I was at a new job where everybody seemed to be doing "Body for Life" and drinking a lot of water. I started drinking water and I can't stop. I probably drink 160 ounces a day.

I say give it some more time.

When I cut out soda, I switched to Propel and iced tea (unsweetened). Both are basically water with a little flavor and the tea has my caffeine:goodvibes

OMG!!! Yes, it takes time...
I know just where you are coming from...

To kick the coke 'soda' addiction doesn't happen overnight...

Man, it is like if you don't get that sweet fizzy thing going on, you don't think you feel refreshed!!!

Give it time...

Give yourself a limit, like one good soda a day to enjoy...

Drink good COLD spring water (not cool/lukewarm tap water, yuck!)

Don't give up! :goodvibes

I do the same thing. Real cold and slice of lemon, lime. I do not count the glasses I drink, I pour cold ice water and add lemon, or REal Lemon/lime.

There are diet powders you can add to get through the coke withdrawal.

I was diagnosed with acid reflux in 2007. That's when I stopped drinking soda. I only drank diet, but still. At first, it was REALLY hard to only drink water. I felt so deprived! Lemonade, coffee, iced tea, hot tea...they all bothered my stomach. It took some time to figure out what and how much I could drink besides water, but honestly, I still mostly drink water all the time. I have soda very occasionally, but I don't NEED it anymore. I don't crave it either.

Give it time, and I'm sure you'll adjust!:thumbsup2

I quit drinking Coke in January (New Years resolution). I'm only drinking water now, and I agree with the previous posters who recommended adding a slice of lemon to it. Or any of the citrus fruits, really. I really like a grapefruit wedge in mine. And it has to be real cold too. After you make it through the withdrawal phase it gets easier. I don't think about it much at all anymore, except when I drive past a McD's where I used to get a $1 large Coke last year during their promotion. I quit going to McD's too, just to reinforce that I was breaking a habit.

I was born loving water- I dont' understand how someone could NOT like it. :confused3 My son loves it- my dd not so much.

Put some Crystal Light in it.... :thumbsup2 I prefer water flavored water, but I know lots of folks like this!

I'm with you on the water. Although I drink a lot of it because of kidney stone issues, I really don't enjoy it unless I've been working out and I'm really, really thirsty!

I'm going to go opposite to OPs' advice and recommend drinking your 'plain' water at room temperature. I found that I could drink it really fast that way, while it seemed to take me forever to get through a glass of ice cold water. I try to 'chug' a small glass of water every hour, and now I MUCH prefer it lukewarm.

I much prefer flavoured waters cold, though! I agree with PPs...try the flavoured waters, or add some citrus or crystal lite. I also like some fruit-flavoured herbal teas chilled.

Another suggest for RealLemon or RealLime. It's crystallized/powdered citrus.

You're probably having some sort of withdrawal...the caffeine, and I know that I've felt a sort of addiction have to break loose as I give up all the HFCS containing products (DS and DH cannot have those things, and I'm trying to respect that, plus it's just horrible for your body) so it could be that, too.

Plus, your taste buds are just used to the sweetness and have to adapt.

Keep going!

I don't like water either! Never have, never will. I don't drink coke much either although I like it. To make myself get more water I buy Vitaminwater and I like it. It tastes like watered down koolaid but it's better than water!

I LOVE water! I drink soda a couple of times a month. Seltzer is my favorite - sometimes I'll add a splash of oj. I can't even drink oj straight - it's way too sweet for a beverage! My biggest advice is to get your kids used to drinking water, like my mom did. We have a cooler, and my kids go days without juice.

If you dislike water, you'll never make it. I don't like plain water either so I always add a Crystal Light packet to mine. Right now I'm loving the Fruit Punch flavor, but I like any of the lemonades or ice teas. They are all good. Try them all out - you will like them a lot!

Add a lemon wedge to your water. No extra calories, but it gives the water a zingy taste. Plus it doesn't add any chemicals or artificial sweeteners like the diet mixes add.

ITA!! My mother loved it.

I just want to say that I am right there with you OP. I hate plain water, and I love a good soda! My doctor has warned me that I need to cut way back, as too much soda can contribute to diabities.

I'm grateful for all of the ideas on how to make water taste better.:thumbsup2 More please!

I gave up coke last year. I don't do artificial sweeteners for various reasons, so no crystal light and the sort for me.

Try sparkling water. It comes in various flavors...try to find lime flavor and drink it cold. Also brewed tea (that you brew yourself) will help with the headaches. I love cold green tea flavored with peach. That you brew yourself of course. It is very flavorful.

Now I just drink water...but it took me almost a year to get here.
