these are the things that are broken and have not been fixed..

dishwasher ( do our dishes by hand now)
wall oven ( brought a lg electric turkey oven to bake in $29.99)
both our outdoor grills
family room tv
basement tv
and last night our washing machine went:eek:

now these are just the things we haven't repaired or replaced... the list of things we have are just as long..

so I"m thinking of picking a day next week and getting a tv repair guy, and appiance repair man over her to fix everything in one swoop...
and buying a new grill for summer....

I really don't think theres anything left to go.... but will see...

DARN! If it weren't for bad luck, you would have no luck at all! Sorry for all of your troubles! Hope you can catch a break somewhere.

 Lowes is having a sale when you buy the washer and drier. I think you save $800. Also, they are having a sale on grills, 20% off. If you go to their website, it says "Print Your Coupons" I bet you can buy online through Ebates and save even more and pick up in the store.

When our clothes washer broke, DH found one on ebay for $75 (a service call alone will cost you that!). It was gently used so it may as well have been new. Obviously it was a local seller so DH just took the truck to the guy's home, paid him cash, and took the washer. You can look on ebay and just restrict the search to your zip code, and of course you can also check on Craigslist.

Yeah, last year about this time that started happening to me and ended with Dh losing his job. He got a new job in Dec, exactly 2 months after his other one ended and things have been looking up, so far...knock on wood.

DH had several car issues
Someone rear-ended me
washer died
dryer died
tv died
computer crashed

I had to buy a new washer and dryer, those are things I can't live without, we moved the TV out of our bedroom to replace the den tv that died and luckily there was a tv in my mom's room we moved to ours. We had to replace the computer. DH's car got repaired.

We have had a few minor things that need some attention this year, but I will get to them when we get our tax refund. I just don't need anything major breaking.

The years is still early, it will start looking up soon, take a deep breath and relax.

When appliances and electronics revolt it can get ugly...its like a domino effect. I've even noticed that our cars seem to catch mechanical issues from each other. Must be viral!!! Anyway, I feel your pain.

This past month we had a broiler element go out on the stove and a motor lock up on the washer. We are usually of the fix-them-up camp as DH is so handy, but both were probably 1980's models, so we did replace them. We bought new stove and matching refrigerator new (20 year old fridge worked, but we liked the matching one and it will take up less space). We've never had to pay for a stove before- when the one in the house went out, SIL had an extra in her basement! My in-laws are taking our old fridge to replace the 1950's model in their garage.

We bought the washer used at the same place- got it home and it STUNK! DH got it apart and cleaned all kinds of mildew out but it didn't fix it. They are taking it back. On Craigslist I found a Fisher & Paykel for the same price $150. So far so good on that one!

Last summer our dryer was blowing fuses. Last fall the guy DH was hauling grain for said he had a Maytag Neptune in the shed because they bought a matching set when the washer board went out. He wanted $35- DH had $29 in his pocket and he took it.

So, we have replaced 4 major appliances this last few months. The grill needs to be replaced. TV is okay...deep freeze is fairly new with 10 year warranty...I don't think there is anything else...

Sounds like gremlins!!!

Yes, we had the 3 in row effect too once....hot water heater, frig, range. It does get overwhelming when everything happens like that, but once you get behind, it's a pain trying to catch up. Luckily for me, my DH is very handy, but when something is old and has to be replaced, then there's nothing you can do. Those days of applicances lasting a long time are long gone. If you can get 10 years now, consider yourself lucky. I'm on my third washer in 20 years and it's only the 2 of us for the last 10 years....they just don't make 'em like they use to.

We've been having one of those winters too. Ended up having to repair the washer, dryer, and fridge and replace the stove all within about a month right before our trip, and we're just living without the extra TV that died. We really didn't need a 3rd anyway. Oh, and I have a Wii that needs to go in for a $75 repair to the disc reader, but I'm putting that off and calling it our "Netflix receiver" for the moment.

Ugh, sorry to hear that! We've had a few months like that too. Right after we decided to buy some plane tix, all sorts of stuff has broken down.

DH's car needed a ton of repairs, DD's car started making funny noises, the garage door controls broke, and the washer and dryer are starting to get stuck mid-cycle. We are manually opening the garage door & keeping an eye on the 4 yr old washer/dryer set :sad2: because we have not had time to make appts to address any of it. Plus we have seen some carpenter ants & the Terro DH bought only seems to be making them more active inside our house!

Plus the kids were sick last week & DD only went one day. She had to go in to the doc again today for her asthma.

I'm not sure what kind of a TV you are talking about, but if it's older one, I wouldn't even bother trying to fix it. If you just need something to hold you over until you have some more cash, you can get older TVs either free or very cheap on Craig's List. It generally is not worth fixing electronics, unless they are still under waranty.

Well, after Dh dropped me off at work this morning, our van broke down and now we are waiting for them to figure out what it is, so I guess I jinxed myself.

...getting a tv repair guy...

Do they still have those??

Seriously, TVs are more disposable, today than they were whene we were growing-up.

Given the associated costs with any TV repair, you may come out better in the long run if you purchase a new set (not to mention you'll have the latest technology).

I hesitate to even say this, for fear of it coming true - but our house was new construction, so ALL of appliances are the same age, and nearing on 13 years old! I'm waiting for everything to all die at the same time.

We've already had our AC fixed (about 2 months before the warranty expired, but that was about 7 years ago, so it's probably about to go again...)

Good luck - hopefully nothing else will go on you!

Thanks!!! My husband wanted a new grill this year, and the one he was looking at was the one on sale at Lowe's. I was planning to buy it for him for his 1st Father's Day--he is just getting it early. 20% off with the coupon, free pick up in store, and 3% in the soon-to be born kid's Upromise account---all made this a budget find for me on a random Friday afternoon.

OP-sorry all your stuff is breaking, but thank you for starting the post--I would have never checked the Lowe's site or seen the coupon.

Did any of the electrical items stop working at about the same time? You may be getting power surges.
