ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!!

Last time we visited DCA in 2006, the ride was closed...

Fast forward to this year, we are heading down in a couple of weeks and it is closed again!!!

What are the chances

I was out there 3 weeks ago and was anxious to get a friend on it for the first time. The music didn't play! It just wasn't as good without it and my friend wasn't crazy about it. We told the cm's on the platform and they were messing with something behind the last car.

DCA is a huge mess right now with the construction.

I can totally understand your frustration. Like you said, what are the chances, right? LOL. Trust me, every year, for most of the year, the ride is up and well. Try not to be too upset. I promise you'll get over your disappointment and have a great time, regardless of the ride closure.

Here's a tip for the future: Go to Disneyland.com and click on their "park hours" menu. Most things won't be posted really far in advance, but anticipated ride closures will be posted 2-3 months ahead of time. I know that's not always enough notice when we make our plans, but it might be enough notice to change plans, if desired.

There's lots of great stuff since you're last visit and it will be good bonding time with whoever you're going with.

Chin up! :flower3::wizard::hippie:

I'm sad too about missing Screamin. It was my favourite ride at the park last time I visited and it isn't in WDW, so this was the key ride I was looking forward to.

Still I guess as it is after the busy summer months, the ride was bound to be in need of a rehab. I will just have to find another ride to call my fav!

I'm sad as well that it will be closed when we are there also.
My DD was finally tall enough and rode it for her first time this past December. She loved it and now is bummed it will be close this time. :(

I had the same thing happen last year right around when WOC opened. You're right, it isn't the same ride.

I feel your pain:sad1:. A similar thing happened with us and Space Mountain. I think we we had 3 visits in a row where it was closed, and we love that ride.

This time we will also be there when California Screamin is closed (end of September), but Oh well, what can you do. It is the price of going off season. I figure we'll enjoy lower crowds instead! I actually only broke this news to DH tonight, even though I knew a while ago:rotfl:.

On the bright side, there are so many changes and rides to enjoy since your last visit. Toy Story Manic Mania, WOC, Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Halloween versions of Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain, and I'm sure a lot more I'm missing.

Maybe consider a day at Knott's to get your "coaster fix":)

You'll have a great trip regardless, because it's Disneyland:banana:

DH would refuse to go if screamin wasn't operating, it's his favourite ride. I'd have to trade off a day at 6 flags or something to make it up to him :sad2: and I agree, it's not the same without the music

Well, he actually said something like that when I told him, but I think he was kidding:rolleyes1

Aw I am sorry. refurbs are not fun but there is plenty more to do. I am taking a friend for the first time and really wanted to show him Screamin and Pirates but both are gonna be down. did you go around the same time back in 06? Lots of rides have the same refurb schedule every year. Screamin was down last year at this time too I think.

Pretty good actually...for September trips after Labor Day (first Monday in September). September after Labor Day and January are prime times for longer refurbs to start. What time of year did you go in 2006?

Many of the rides at DLR have had trouble staying up this summer and must be in desperate need of refurbs. When we were there a few weeks ago California Screamin was down a lot over three days to the point where we thought we might miss it entirely.

Fortunately those who have been active on forums like this have known about the California Screamin refurb since June.

See this post from June 21 - Al Lutz Mega-Update - DCA Magic Mornings?, Lots of Refurbs, PFF Moving, Tiered Prices

I hope your trip is otherwise magical!

It took us 3 trips to ride Fast Track at EPCOT. I guess the chances are pretty high when you travel in the off season. I am bummed that POTC will be closed during our trip.

Haha - I have this problem with POTC. It seems like I plan my trip then DL sees that I am coming and decides to close it!! :lmao:

But there isn't a ride that they could close that would mean this isn't the  BEST TRIP EVER! I'm so excited to be there that none of it matters. It will all be there next time. :goodvibes

You summed up my opinion. There's always something down when I go. My family LOVES water rides and, of course, Splash Mountain was down when we went in May. I was disappointed, but what can you do? It's Disneyland!!

I am sorry you won't get to ride CS

I was sad to see that this will be closed when I am down there this month, but I was more distraught to read about Pirates being closed. ):

But, we are still going to have a blast anyways.

My daughter was super bummed when I told her that Screamin' was going to be down while we were in Disney. We're planning a day at Knotts so she can get the roller coaster bug out of her system.

What a great idea. I'd have to do that for my older teenagers if it is down when we are there.
