Ugh Airfare!

I second AirTran.

This year I have seen as low as $64 one way to MCO - but wait until Tuesday to check their prices. That's when the lower deals come out and ususally you have to book it within two days. Deals only last from Tuesday to Thursday then prices go back up until the next Tuesday's sale.

Good LUCK!!! :flower3:

We are always checking air fare with Spirit or US Air and have only caught a couple specials. For the our trip in Oct, US AIR, tickets purchased as soon as avail, and the flight and times we wanted, out of Phila, are $244/ per person round trip. Last Dec we few Spirit out of Atlantic City to Orlando and just happened to catch a 69. each way $138/per person round trip, but havn't seen any like that since. The fares keep going up, unless you fly the times that are undesirible with you plans , We keep checking....

I am not in your neck of the woods, but we use ww.aa.com search using price and schedule..they do the price per each way that way. Also we fly to disney early am and back late pm..gives us the most time at the parks.
Other things we do is just change your dates day by day when searching flights. I have been finding going to disney on wed seems to bring cheaper airfare. I often save $200 just by changing the dates by one day. We are a family of 5 so I fully understand the expense thing. I get a direct flight from STL for $158 plus tax usually.

I saw rates $20 cheaper after I bought my AA tix will it do me any good to call the airline and try and get credit or something for that extra $20? :confused3

As far as Halloween, the parties start in Sept so you arent locked into late Oct unless you want to be

Try a package including Air, it should be less expensive. Otherwise look for alternative airports ( here or there ).

:thumbsup2

We are trying real hard to go Oct 31-Nov 3rd. So far the room or even a package is very affordable, but the airfare is killing us. With five people, it gets sooo pricey!!

Anyone have any secrets for cheap air? We missed the Southwest 49 dollar deal. Ugh.

I've moved this post to the transportation board where you will get better answers.

Good luck!

Okay you may not want to do this, but depending on where you are in Massachusetts, you may consider driving to Albany for a Southwest flight there. I can't say whether the rates are always the same, but right now I'm seeing $69 flights both ways (including non-stop options) for the days you're looking at.
It might work. Boston is between 2 1/2 and 3 hours from here on the Mass Pike, and the airport is on I-87 just a couple exits north of the I-90 interchange. Parking is about $35 a week there. Add in taxes, tolls and gas and I'd say you're looking at around $800. If that is enough to warrant some additional travel time and inconvenience, there's your answer.
If you're really feeling lucky, you can also look into standby deals offered by the airlines when they are underbooked. Of course this is a HUGE risk because there's no guarantee of getting on a flight (and with 5 it's much harder than with 1 or 2), but if you can find an unpopular time and a friendly employee that can feed you tips, it could work out to an amazing deal, as an airline would rather put you in an empty seat for $20 than fly that empty seat across the country.
Crazy ideas, I know, but sometimes these things help. I hope something works out, it'd be a shame if you couldn't go.....

I've had problems finding reasonable fares out of Nashville to MCO, and your post gave me an idea! Fares are half the cost flying into Tampa, and TPA is about an hour away from WDW. Although it wasn't in our plans, we may fly into TPA and rent a car. We were going to have to spend some money on taxis anyway.

If you were planning to rent a car anyway, flying into TPA might be a good plan "B."

How far are you from Manchest they just came out with a ding for 49 one way on your dates I think.

Thank you for just posting this. You saved me $300!!! I wasn't planning on checking DING! today. Anyway...this board is great. I've saved $700 this weekend because of all of you! On Friday my Disney travel agent from Small World vacations (found out about this company through the board) got me a deluxe for a moderate price ($400 there) and then $300 saved on airfare. AWESOME.

Congrats, on finding good deals. As for Small world Vacations that is who I have booked my last two Disney with. I'm glad the Ding worked out for you today!
