I recently bought & returned about 25 pairs of boots & shoes from zappos.com (they have WONDERFUL customer service!).
Among those were 6 pairs of UGGS. We had recently moved from living on a tiny island in the pacific ocean and I had been wearing flip-flops for a year. Prior to living on the island, I had 4 foot surgeries and the bones in both feet realigned. So, finding comfortable, supportive shoes are important to me. I had read several reviews for UGGS and I thought I would like their "rockstar" style. I didn't know what size I'd need because of the surgeries and my feet spreading after wearing flipflops for so long. I ordered 6 pairs of UGGS - (2 sizes in 3 colors) - I used to wear 7 1/2 when I wore "real" shoes so I ordered an 8 in the UGGS as well as a 9. The 8 was wayyy too small. The 9 was a little too big & it was tight. I was surprised that the fleece seemed not quite as plush as people rave about. It was scratchy and kind of sparce. I returned all of the boots to Zappos and then went to a department store to see if maybe they had a better quality of boots. The UGGS I received from Zappos were made in China and the UGGS in Dillards were made in Australia. The classic style of UGGS in the dept store seemed quite a bit better than the 6pr I received from Zappos. The fur was a bit softer and more dense. Unfortunately, they still were not comfortable when I put them on. The fleece didn't feel good under my feet for some reason. So..back to Zappos and my quest for comfy shoes.
I'll spare you guys all of the trial and error I went through - and will just tell you what I've actually kept and why.
I have 2 pairs of fleece lined boots by "Old Friend" and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them! They are warm, and the fleece is wayyy softer than any of the UGGS I've tried. Zappos has frequent sales on them, too. They are wayyy cheaper - yet - the quality is ever bit as good as the UGGS. The downside is they look much clunkier - they are a little heavier. I was really excited about the red ones because I thought I'd wear them around DW during the chilly evenings and it would be like wearing slippers;o) Unfortunately, they are too heavy and clunky for that, IMO. There are a LOT (150+) reviews on these boots on zappos.com - so, check them out there and see what you think. Just don't buy the "dust" color 'cause they truly look like dirty boots! $45-70/pr depending on what sale price you can find. I have red & baby blue. I wear the red ones around the house and out to the get the mail. My favorite "comfort" shoe!
I also have 2 pairs of boots made by Born. They are the Yuma style. These are cute, cute, cute! The uppers are fleece lined, the foot part is leather so they don't look clunky. The soles are oh so comfy and I can wear these for hours. These are my Disney World traveling boots - I have the rasin & brown colors. The uppers also have cute leather lacing up the sides - which, would look really cute with a boho skirt. Oh - and on the bottom of the rubber soles are Christmas trees! Very comfy boots - but, expensive - about $180/pr.
For sandals (I know this thread was about UGGS but - these shoes are soooo comfortable and what Dis'r doesn't want a comfy sandal to walk the world

- I bought 2 pairs of Naot. I bought the "jewel" style and I forget the other style name - but - got them in copper - they kind of look like TEVA styles. These are awsome! My sis is an RN and she has been telling me for years to try Naot - but, I never wanted to put the $$ into them. Now, I'm glad I did! $100-$140 each.
Finally - for sneakers - Saucony seems to be the brand for those of us with problematic feet. Their "grid stable/stabel (sp??

" is just right for feet that need support. I've tried NB & Nike and neither provided the support I need. Also, NB is known for breaking down quickly. $90-120 depending on where you find them.
