Dangit! I just wish my vacation would get here so I can quit overthinking things! Today, I'm overthinking WCC.

I think the kids would love it - DD15, DDs BFF15 and DS6. But there are just so many good choices at WDW for meals that I'm wondering if there's not something better that we should be doing.

Currently I have this booked on our MK day, thinking we'd finish up at the parks and be ready to sit down for a meal in a cool place.

Tell me...is there something YOU would consider instead as a "must do"? The only thing I'm sure I DON'T want to do is 'Ohana, and only because it would send me over the edge if I had to wait longer than about 20 or 30 minutes to sit down to eat at the end of the day. Here's a list of the restaurants we reserved:

Chef Mickey
1900 PF (B/D)
50s Prime Time
HDDR
Les chefs
Le Cellier
CRT
Boma
Raglan Road
Wolfgang Puck Cafe
Cape May (Breakfast)
'Ohana Breakfast
Biergarten
Teppan Edo
Coral Reef
Mama Melrose
Hollywood and Vine (B)
Crystal Palace Lunch
Akershus (D)

But, we didn't love WCC. Took a decent amount of time to get there and get seated. Food was just ok, and our server didn't do much of the antics that you hear about on these boards. She wasn't a bad server, it just wasn't special. You have a great list of ADRs. Since you are willing to be out of a park for dinner, maybe look into the other resort choices, such as Kona. If you are on the deluxe plan, and have hoppers, the World is open to you.

Our must dos include:

Whispering Canyon - it is DH's favorite place. Love everything about this restaurant. The food, the atmosphere, the gallon jug of soda...the list goes on and on.

Ohana - We have never had to wait over our time for this ADR. And have dined at 5, 6:30 and 8pm. Slower service in the later times, but never had to wait to be seated. Infact, almost lost our ressie due to friends being 1 min late to the ADR.

Chef Mickey's - I love the CR resort and the feel of the restaurant. Yes it is loud, but sometimes we get to sit in the corner by the lake...ah heaven.

Those are ours.

Thank you for that feedback...I really need to read that. I keep looking at menus everywhere else, and nothing just jumps out as being spectacular. We had ADRs for 'Ohana, but I just don't have the patience for a wait and current reports are that waits are taking "forever." It just isn't worth the chance for me.

Don't overthink too much. Given the age of your kids, they might enjoy WCC. I know my niece and nephews enjoyed their meals there. The big hit was the bottomless milkshake. Depending on how you hit it, the food can be just average, but some people rave about it. I think it's worth a try. It may not be gourmet food, but it can be a lot of fun.

with kids... it may be a lot of fun. only you know your kids... are they still spunky after leaving the parks... or are they so tired they want to drop? if they are tired, you may want to do something more low key like Kona. it's a great dinner, fun desserts for kids and an all around great meal. you could just hop on the monorail to get there.

i was never a kid that enjoyed "hoopla" and loudness. my family knew i wouldn't be able to handle anything like that. i was more shy than anything... i much prefered a fancy restaurant at age 7 than something "fun".

maybe show your kids a few pictures or the menus and see what they would like??

DD15 would probably enjoy it. She doesn't have a shy bone in her body. DDs BFF can be shy, but she *really* wanted to do 50s Prime Time (which we're doing) because of the antics...so I think she'd enjoy this, too.

DS6 is fairly reserved, but would LOVE it if someone picked on me or his sister. DH and FIL wouldn't be thrilled to be picked on, though DH would take it more in stride, I think, than FIL.

"I'm overthinking WCC"

I was where you are the weeks before scheduling my adrs regarding WCC. It was like I could have posted this thread (down to your comments on Ohana, too). My family likes bbq ok enough but I felt there were some other restaurants where they might like the menu better. But the restaurant seemed so unique for theming and atmosphere and since we will be staying at WL, so convenient....... I really went back and forth for several weeks with this debate in my head and it was driving me crazy.

Right before my ADR day, I finally just decided to go for WCC. Yes, I can probably get better liked food at other places, but I won't get the same atmosphere and antics anywhere else but WCC. And if it turns out that the food is meh and we don't get a fun server, it is only 1 of our several meals and we can say we did it and move on.

I am at peace now ....

I think I'm in the minority too as I didn't care for it. We had an afternoon lunch reservation and it took us over 30 minutes to get seated past our ADR. It took a long time to get there and waiting on a bus to take us back was a long wait also. It's just not somewhere I would try again. Hope you have a better experience than we did.

My kids (DD18, DD10 and DD6) love WCC - they would eat there every trip!! They especially liked it when DH was put in jail for trying to order a smoothie after the server told him they were out and not to even ask for one and I had to ride around on a stick horse and sing "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" for laughing at DH.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that over-thinks everything about our Disney vacations!! It's because I have too much time to rethink our plans.
I booked Whispering Canyon for our upcoming trip after not going there for several years. My two boys and I normally go to Disney World without DH so this will be his first time at Whispering Canyon. Can't wait for him to witness all the fun and excitement for himself!!! :thumbsup2

We like WCC - we didn't have much of the antics, but we enjoyed the food. If you're looking more for food, though, consider giving The Wave a try - it's surprisingly delicious!

Our family loves WCC for the fun, not the food. Don't get me wrong, the food isn't bad but nothing special. Last year we went with a group of 8 and had a great server. We laughed the entire time! Your kids with probably love it.

I should let you know that we waited about 45 minutes to be seated. :scared1: It could have been because we were a large group.

Good luck!
