Our schools were out M-W last week. The only big deal, is that the remaining scheduled snow make up days are the week we have our reservation at WDW. My son is in HS, and they have finals the last few days of school, so, we can't blow off the last days of school like we did when he was in grade school.

So, today we are supposed to get another 3-5 inches. Fortunately, the 12 inches we got two weeks ago melted last weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed. I know I won't be able to book the same room I have now--BLT,lake view. But, I might be able to get AKV, which is our home resort, and really one of our favorites. To add fun to the mix, our annual passes expire June 16, and my son and husband have Boy Scout camp the week of June 1.

I appreciate your predicament.:scratchin

This has been quite the winter here as well. Every time it snows my co worker (that shares my office) gets all excited. She loves snow. I reminder that she does not have to drive an hour every morning in it to take a car full of boys to school.:rotfl:

Since my children started HS, I have been limited to second week of June.

Do you have your airline booked? We fly southwest and I ended up changing my DD's flight and she joined us 4 days after the rest of the family. She was disappointed but we really did not have any other good options.

We have flights already booked; they are on Airtran. I am waiting until we get another snow day to reschedule, because there is a chance that there won't be one. I am almost thinking of scheduling the second week at AKV because I still have enough points to do that, to hold a room. The problem is with the banked and borrowed points used to book BLT. You are familiar with that. We have three contracts. One had points banked from 2013, another had borrowed from 2015 (our original reservation was for AKV Kidani, which is one of our home resorts, but, my son totally loves BLT; he was inviting a friend to join us, and BLT is perfect for that). If I reserve a studio at AKV, I have enough points without borrowing. But, they are on more than one contract, so, I would have to do it through member services.

Yep, we didn't have school at all last week, and we're supposed to get more snow today. The way this winter is going, I wouldn't be surprised at all if we get more snow days. Since the school calendar always adds potential days at the end of the year, I never plan vacations for those days. Sure, it would be nice to travel then, before the rest of the country is out for the summer, but it's just too big of a risk. Good luck changing your plans. You may not get your ideal resort, but hopefully you'll be able to get something. With high schoolers, maybe they'd like OKW or SSR with the access to Downtown Disney? Or Boardwalk?

We have six days built into our calendar and don't start extending the school year until the seventh day. Even with that buffer, I *never* schedule any vacations starting less than a week after the nominal last day of school.

Because we have family in Florida, who have the Florida seasonal pass, we schedule our vacation for the week right after school lets out. Since my son has been in 5th grade, he has been in boy scouts, and his troop has always been scheduled to camp the first week of June. My husband is a leader, so, he has to go, so there are enough adults. So, that leaves us only until June 11 or so to see our family if we want to vacation together. I don't know when that blackout period starts this year, but, like I said, our annual pass expires June 16. So, I am pretty much stuck. But, my son is in 10th grade, and going the first week school is out has only been an issue once since he has been in preschool. And, that year, I applied to take him out of school for the one day after Memorial day. When he was in grade school, the last day was a half day, during which they had a whole school Mass and then an awards program. School was out by 11.
