UFO/Aliens question. If you were the leader of your country and had access/proof of extraterrestrial beings, would you make everything public? Even if you knew it could break international treaties or cause panic? I'm not trying to create a conspiracy thread, just curious what you would do in that kind of situation.

As a true politician, I would ensure that all the people that I owed for getting me to office know before I make the announcement so they could short the world's stock markets. An easy way for me to pay them back.

I would expect the world's markets to crash, for religious groups to panic, for new religious groups to be formed, and extreme mayhem.

Considering how everyone acts now a days, no way. I saw the riots and mass protests during the covid era. I could not even begin to imagine the breakdown of society if that was found out. If anything, it make aliens more likely to make themselves completely known, if they say something. Which is something, we probably don't want. They would destroy us like an ant farm.

They could do that at anytime then. How would the knowledge of their existence change that threat?

To answer the question, I'm not honestly sure. I think that if I knew 'they' were coming and 'they' were of obvious superior intelligence and bent on destruction I'd probably keep my mouth shut and let people live their now-shortened lives in ignorance vs. mayhem and whatnot. With that being said, I'd presume SOMEONE else would know and word would get out no matter what my (as leader of my Country) decision to do would be.

Personally, I agree with whomever up thread said we were like ants. IF there is intelligent life out there I figure we are so insignificant to them they wouldn't bother with us but if they did and they wanted what we had, we'd have no chance.

Absolutely out with the truth and sincere apologies that prior leaders lied, same goes for Bigfoot and Loch Ness. Simply can't fathom lying, I mean we know other military systems exist, sharks exist, lions exist, we know there are great warriors and strategists, geniuses and all the rest among us that can easily be a threat and yet we manage.

I don't believe any such things exist and if such things did exist there is no conceivable reason I could imagine they would want to be here. If they are advanced why bother to hide, I don't hide from ants, it makes no sense?

Whole business is just one more silly distraction or maybe a line item in the budget to hide other spending.

We could just eliminate aliens with the common cold. Nothing to fear. If our existence is threatened, humanity would fight back together. I am 99 percent certain of it.
