I prefer Lyft and use that. I always tip via the app, it never even occurred to me to tip in cash to up my own rating. I forgot we as passengers even GET a rating! I wish I could see what mine was (hopefully good, no reason it wouldn't be!). I personally love not having to take out my wallet in the vehicle, one of my biggest fears with taxis was accidentally leaving my wallet or card in the car, rideshare apps take away that possibility, which is a perk for me! And of course, knowing your cost before your journey, which is huge, especially here in NYC where metered cabs can run up pretty unexpectedly.

I don't know why you think a random thread on a Disney board is the end all be all on how to use Uber or Lyft?

Whomever is cheaper, and it usually doesn't matter as a lot drivers work for Lyft and Uber.

Thank you I know to tip in the app and I know to agree to disagree with this family member I know what I am comfortable with and I don't need her or anyone's else's approval at my age

As a matter of fact she is not a close relative to keep the peace I might text safe at destination safe at home because where I go is not her business

Not to nitpick but the OP didn’t ask about tipping.

A former rideshare driver mentioned on page one, and other posters either quoted that one or asked questions about tipping, or both.
