I will start off saying I am or was team lyft but I see that uber has a free rewards program that might come in handy so what is overall the best customer service I used uber a long time ago so long I don't remember it

Not many differences. I usually go with whichever is cheaper or closer for a given trip depending on my needs. I am more familiar with the safety features of Uber so if I am traveling alone, I am more likely to default to Uber if the two are close enough.

We used both on our last trip, both were excellent service and as PP mentioned, all of our drivers were driving for both companies. When we needed a ride we pulled up both apps, and chose whichever one had the fastest pickup or lowest price if there was a big difference (I think only one ride out of 12 had a more-than-a dollar difference, so we chose almost entirely based on fastest pickup)

Does anyone know how much they charge for a 2 mile drive? I have no clue on either.

A friend recently told me Lyft has a reputation for being more 'female friendly' than Uber. I have absolutely no idea why that is or where she heard that but there you go.

I was recently in Nashville and the concierge at our hotel recommended I use Lyft. I did not ask why she recommended Lyft over Uber.

I don't drive currently and have gone through other long periods of not driving due to a medical issue so I use both a ton. Most drivers drive for both and there is pretty much 0 difference between. Like a PP mentioned, I decide which I'll use based on how close they are or cost.

Call me a snob but I feel safer with lyft but I have family that uses uber and I am trying to convince myself to switch but I am well establish with lyft the drivers and I know the drivers

I started with Uber -- works for me, both the app and the system, and haven't needed to try Lyft. For the most part, it's work-related and not usually more than once or twice a month. As a woman who travels alone for my business trips, I've never felt that it's not "female friendly," although one driver was irritated with me that I didn't know one of the songs he was playing from the Grateful Dead.

This doesn't answer the question but as a former person that drove for both services I'd like to remind folks to please tip like you would for a taxi ride. Drivers don't get anywhere near the money you're charged by these companies, the driver might see only 50% of what you pay after Uber/Lyft take their cut. I'm not say to tip for a bad experience but if you'd time a taxi or limo driver for the same trip do the same for the Uber/Lyft driver.

I get that tipping now is the norm, but when this whole thing started, the point was that it was one price and you didn't have to tip. I'm annoyed that it's now expected, when the whole point was that it was different from a taxi.

And back when it started the companies took less of a bite out of what the driver got. But they keep finding ways to increase their profit at the expense of the drivers take.

My understanding was that you included the tip at the time you ordered the ride, so there was no tip at the end-just get to your location and get out of the car. Is that how it works? Or is a tip when you reach your destination a good idea? I admit I haven't used either yet-planning on using one of them to get from my hotel back to the airport at the end of my next trip.
