You can tip in cash or in the app and yes you can tip using an uber GC.

You have been able to tip in the app for years. Definitely pre-covid.

Definitely can tip Uber via the app, that's been around for quite a while.

I always tip in app, if I want to go above that I tip in cash.

Ohhh ok. I would have been horrified of the leaving that car without handing the driver a tip on my way out, that's why I never seen that. But I still don't think I could do it. . Will still tip in cash.

There is now an option to add the tip when you first get picked up. The driver doesn't actually get the tip until after the trip is over. I usually wait until about half way through the trip before deciding what to tip, and then do it on the app.

I'm sure there are people who say that and do nothing. But I'm sure there also are people who say nothing and do nothing.

I feel like I enter the tip but I must not hit submit, because more often than not I get a push notification asking me to enter a tip so I don't hurt my rider rating or something like that.

The driver provides a rating of you (just like you can provide a rating of the driver). So if you tip cash, the driver should know that and rate you accordingly. (It's not like the app itself auto-rates you based on leaving a tip or not).

Speaking of rider ratings, I just found out that you can see exactly how many 5 star, 4 star, 3 star etc. ratings you have received from drivers. On the app go to Account - Settings - Privacy - Privacy Center - See Summary - View My Ratings. Quite interesting.

That is a very strange place to put that IMO. I would never think to go under Privacy Center to view my ratings . . .

Agreed, me neither. I just happened to spot an article somewhere explaining how to do it.

I do the same. I let them know I will tip when I get inside my destination.

(Note that this is in Uber. I don't know if there is a way to see it in Lyft. I do know that Lyft won't let you look at your account if "Location Services" is turned off on your phone. If Location Services is turned on, and you go into the Lyft app, and you click on the menu button in the top left of the Lyft screen and then click on Profile, it will show you your rating, but I don't know how to see a breakdown.
