Uber/Lyft for a family of 6 from MCO to a WDW resort?

We're a family of 6. Just one smallish overhead carry-on bag per person so that we can fly SW with no checked baggage. Been doing this for years.

DME is gone, and Mears is apparently $32 round trip which x6 = $192 total or $96 each way.

But is an Uber/Lyft even available for 6 people? Maybe a minivan or large SUV? If so, are they reasonably available or rare?

And what might Uber/Lyft cost for 6 people from MCO to any given WDW resort? (usually WL or BWI)

Uber XL and the Lyft equivalent currently seat up to 5. You'd need to split up. If you want price estimates, those can be done in both services' apps (or on their websites, probably).

I have no idea. I think I’m just going with Mears connect until I hear back from others.

In my experience (I have a family of 7) the cost for round-trip transportation is pretty close to just renting a mini-van, depending on how many days you're staying. You might look into that if you have free parking.

Yes, that's what I said in my first post. XL seats up to 5 because the front seat is supposed to be blocked during COVID.

Uber and Lyft XLs are currently only accommodating up to 5 passengers, and UberX and regular Lyft are only allowing three at this time. This is a COVID precaution; they do not want anyone sitting in the front passenger seat.

We just priced this all out for 6 people and went with private transportation via Tony Hinds. Plus you don't have to wait around and can have a grocery stop. Even pricing FL Tours that was the same or cheaper than Mears or Sunshine Flyer. As others have mentioned, Uber/Lyfts max out at 5 right now and surge pricing is always possible.

I wouldn't count on that happening unless you're fine calling two cars if push comes to shove. This rule has been constant since the beginning of covid.

We’re going at the end of March and just booked Mears Connect.

Do report back if Uber black SUV seats 6 again. We might cancel Mears and keep our ADR (flights changed and reduced 3 park hours).

An Uber XL might not have enough room for luggage for a group of 6, even if front seat restrictions are lifted. I wouldn't be shocked if the restrictions become permanent. Drivers might prefer not having a passenger in the front seat.

I can't think of a single XL ride I've taken that would fit 6 plus luggage, even using the front seat.

Mears offers private SUV or private van service. Both options say they will accommodate 6, but I would feel more confident with the van, just to make sure the luggage fits. The rate is $122 one-way and there is a discount on the return if you book it at the same time. The gratuity is INCLDUDED (both ways) so there is no added costs. We used the SUV service in October 2021 for our party of 3 and it was phenomenal. The drivers communicated with us at the airport and the resort and I would not hesitate to book with them again.

How can I find out how many pieces of luggage and carryon's each vehicle accommodates? We are group of 7 adults and 2 children. I know we will have to split it up. I am booked with Mears Connect right now but was considering Uber. The only hesitation is we have one checked and 1 carryon per adult.

Considering your ride could be any car made not sure you can. I believe the ride share classes only guarantee the number of people per class. There’s no requirement for number of bags to my knowledge

That's 14 pieces of luggage.

At that rate, you might need at least three Uber XLs and that is hoping that the Uber drivers are willing to let you put some luggage in the backseat of their cars.

You would be better off getting private transport.
