Uber/Lyft + Covid

For those who have been there recently, how has mask/covid protocol compliance been with drivers? Here in NYC, most of the Lyfts I've been in over the past year have required masks, no passengers allowed in front seat, windows are often open or cracked, and many of the cars (especially XL vans and SUVs) have plexiglass separating the driver. Have the Florida/Disney-area drivers been compliant? I know the companies themselves have broad-sweeping covid guidelines, but since L/U drivers operate more like independent contractors than other car services, curious how consistent this is there.

The mask requirement is a national company policy for both Uber/Lyft, I have yet to see a driver in any area not compliant with the mast requirement.

Glad to hear that! That reinforces what I hoped-that the unmasked driver that I got on a recent trip to WDW was a rare case. I did mention it in my review. If it's their policy and I complied, I expect it from the driver as well.

OMG WHAT?!

ugg. I was planning to rideshare on my upcoming trip from MCO-UOR and then UOR-WDW but got nervous about delta a few weeks ago and booked a car rental. Literally just today I was thinking eh, 2 20 min rides, masks are worn, I’m vaxed… why do I need to pay so much more for a rental and UOR parking? THIS is why. I’ll keep the rental. I do not need to be stressing out if my driver will wear a mask or drop their mask after we drive off on these longer rides. I’ve done a couple rideshares within Disney property during Covid no issues at all but this would be venturing into over 15 mins in a rideshare and I’m just not ready

On a recent trip in DC, our drivers did allow my husband to ride in front seat. (We are vaxxed, we all wore masks). We have trouble with space because of my son's large Convaid chair (it is like a giant stroller for adults). Short trips, not ideal of course.

Keeping my $400 SUV rental for WDW in 2 weeks.

That's the Covid policy for both companies. Nobody allowed in the front passenger seat, so the current capacity limits are 3 in X and 5 in XL. It's been that way for at least a year, I believe.

It's not just the driver, and really the driver may be the least of your risks. What about the other passengers the driver is transporting? Did they hold their breath for the entire ride?
