Uber/lyft car seat for 4 year old?

Hi everyone

Quick question we going Disney in 9 days (yeppie) and will be staying on property so for 90% of our trip will be using the Disney transport. However we also want to go to universal for couple days so will need to use uber/lyft do you have to ask for a car seat for 4 year old? does it cost extra? where on the app do you add that info as never used either before. Is it possible to get a public bus from Disney springs (we staying at Port Orleans Riverside so easy to get to Disney springs) to universal? Thank you for all the help

Yes. Ubers with car seats are available in both X (up to 4 riders including the child) and XL (up to 6). They are shown on the app as a separate class of ride.

Once you enter your destination in "Where to?" you will see ride options on the bottom of the screen. One page currently shows X, XL, and Black, the other page shows Select, X Car Seat, and XL Car Seat. Swipe left or right to see the Car Seat options.

Yes, looks like about $8-$9 extra.

Also, if the child is 4 and is good with a booster, you may save money by purchasing your own portable booster -- like BubbleBum. That will not only reduce the cost of the rides, it will greatly improve ride availability because only a small number of Uber vehicles have car seats, and no Lyft vehicles have them.

More info: Child seats are available on Uber only, not Lyft, and they are being phased out by attrition, so you may not always be able to get one quickly. IIRC the upper limit on most of the ones approved by Uber is around 70 lbs. (Drivers had to buy one on an approved list; they were not supplied by the company.)

For convenience, BubbleBum is a better way to go if it fits your situation.
