The Dept. Of Homeland Security says no, keep Java disabled even though Oracle came out with a new Java update. Java is still easily hacked and vulnerable. There are also fake updates that are actually malware.

I found out that Chrome disallows Java by default on all pages. So for those who are installing Java on Google Chrome just to disable it -- don't. If you use Chrome, you don't have to do anything. If a program needs Java to run on Chrome, a window will pop up asking to allow Java to run for that specific page. If that happens, just click "don't allow."

I got a pop-up in Google Chrome that I had to enable Java for GMAIL and GOGGLE DRIVE. You know, the two main programs that Google makes. I couldn't get into Drive at all to access any of my files unless I enabled Java for it.

BUT, when I access those sites with Firefox, and Java is totally disabled, they work fine.

Nope ... the Java plug-in and java script are two different animals. Don't worry about any java script stuff

ACTUAL Java (in 2013?!?), or JavaScript?

The name implies a relationship, but there is no relationship.

Also, that should be clear. Don't disable JavaScript. Well, I mean, I guess you can if you want. But that's not what this is about.

Looks like Firefox just blocked Java again. I'm running 7 Update 11 and it just seemed to go to blocked over the past few hours. Anyone else see it blocked in the Firefox add-ons?
