U.S.A. Trip Pictures--9,513 miles and THE END.

John, does Yellowstone Pizza tastes any different from northern pizza ?
I wonder, do they serve a Salmon pizza ? Or a Grizzly pizza tastes like ? Or a bear chasing salmon pizza tastes like ?

Seriously, what kinda temperatures are those water holes holding ?

On a backpacking trip in the Rockies I once had a bear try to take my lunch time squeeze cheese.

Oh sure it was jalapeno-cheddar flavor cheese after all but age and wisdom prevailed and I yielded to the hairy bruin.

Its much more civilized to travel the way you did John and see the sights that way.

For Frank:

I did put my fingers (cautiously) in 2 thermal pools. The temps seemed to be in line with a sauna at Disney World. 105/110 degrees. I did put the back of my hand on the ground in the viscinity of fumurals. The ground was bloody hot. I did not get burned, but "John, no more playing around".

I believe at Yellowstone's elevation, water starts boiling around 200 degrees.

There are somwhere in the vincinity of 250 geysers in the park. They talked about super heated. Sorry ! ! ! I never asked what that meant. I blew this one, because on our trip I constantly asked 'WHY or what does that MEAN'.

We were told to stay on the boardwalks (ecology and safety) and never, never be downwind, off a boardwalk, when a geyser erupts in the near vicinity. The person who told us was not official, but appeared to know his stuff. There was a possibilty of being scalded. That would be real NASTY ! ! !

Gorgeous ! I'm surprised Shirley didn't do any white water rafting. ;)

You were right about Shirley & White Water Rafting.

Our next picture posting is about Jackson Hole and the Tetons. We stayed at a KOA right on the Snake River. They catered to White Water, with the wetsuits, rafting guides, etc. DW did want to white water raft.

One problem. There are soooooooo many things to see, do and learn from, time ran out in Jackson Hole.

It may have been a trade to fossil hunt that bumped white water aside.

With Shirley, there is always a tomorrow and a way to scare the wits out of me.

OMG - I just discovered this and am wondering what rock I've been hiding under. SO enjoying following this NOW....thank you for sharing. This is our dream!!

That falls pic is magnificent. I'd love to be standing on that platform.

Hey John, how long do you spose it waould take a fish to get from the bottom of that falls to the top ??

Bet that swimmer would look a a fish on steroids :lmao:

Ya know,

With the Boy Scouts I've carried a 45-lb backpack as high as 11,711 feet (not that I'm counting).

At the same place (Philmont Scout Ranch in Northeast New Mexico) my highest point is Baldy Mountain (12,441 feet on a day hike no backpack).

But Pike's Peak (or any taller mountain) would be a challenge I would love to attempt. My bucket list includes a cross-Grand Canyon trek also (did the South Rim loop already but not the cross).

Nice pictures John. I like seeing them.

:thumbsup2

bama ed would fit into right into 'DW Shirley' s Adventures'.

Ed feeding bears squeezie cheese and runnin' around with with 45 lbs on his back at 11 to 12 thousand feet. I can't even imagine that.

We were told to carry water (dehydration) on Pike's Peak. Besides the tough breathing and the wobbles, I did notice a dry mouth and my voice went up a few octaves.

I had confidence that I would not die. I kept repeating ; you will not die, you will not die. Just ignore the Wobbles. YEAH ! ! RIGHT !

I guess I am doomed to be a flatlander, but to me ; "Relaxxxxx, No Problem MON".
