Hi folks,

I'm looking for a recommendation for a travel agent who's both knowledgable about Walt Disney World, and helping U.K. visitors in planning trips to the U.S. I'd prefer specific agent names rather than agency names, if possible.

Thanks very much!

Trailfinders were good for me. They have some good specialists.

you could try phillipa at Mercury Travel.net and also Kenwood travel.

Have used them both.

I heartily recommend Premier Travel HERE

The lady we dealt with is called Nicky and she couldn't have been more helpful - even when BMI changed all the flight times she was on the ball and sorted out new tickets etc for us.

Hi lentesta,
We were in WDW for our wedding in September and our Bridesmaid is an independant travel agent.
She can book just about anything you can think of and almost certainly gets better rates than you or I.
I just booked our Disneyland Paris trip with her and despite my best efforts of internet hunting, she still got the trip for 10% less than I could.

She is quite passionate about WDW herself and has a reasonable amount of knowledge from the tourist's perspective, but is also a fabulous Travel Agent )not to mention close friend of ours).

Why not give her a call and tell her Russ sent you.

Best regards,
Russ.

Carolfoy is a travel agent and she definately knows Disney!!

Hi Russ,

I have just emailed Vicky to tell her of your praises.... we both work for the same company and as we work idependantly it is great to get recommendations..... in fact one of my "clients" emailed me to advise me of this thread and that she had been unsure whether to post a link or not.

Len, you do want to deal with a Disney Specialist as there are so many demands on TA's attention that if they don 't specialise then they are not quite up to speed on the ever changing mood of Disney etc.

Regards

Just a note to say that there are 'specialists' and 'specialists'. I'd consider myself quite an expert as I've been 3 times and spend loads of time on the Dis boards  but there are also courses run by disneytravelagents to get a qualification in, these are just general knowledge type questions and the course is not particularly in-depth, there is no comparison to experiencing the real thing. Scottish-Helen had a good example when she took part in a fam trip organised by Thomson Holidays and ended up running the whole shebang as she knew more than their ground agents!!!, Just to warn you really that anyone in the business can get the 'disney specialist' qualification but do they know the real thing?

Agreed Carol. I spend all my holidays in Disney and those of us who are passionate about the place shine through from all others...... I have to admit spending more of my time on other boards and on the resorts forum here, but occassionally pop in.

You could try Elle at Florida Homes and Travel (www.floridahomesandtravel.com) 0500 50 50 87 She is most definitely an expert, she owns a Florida Publication and spends loads of time out there. I have used her now for years for car hire and now she does flights and accommodations and packages as well, I think her newspaper has now been going for something like 20 years.

Cinders Mum, I don't know you but you obviously know your stuff and I would say that a Travel Counsellor like you is the sort of agent Len would be looking for. :earsboy:

I've thought about joining Travel Counsellors myself over the years but don't have a client base so have always been scared to bite the bullet. Maybe one day though.

Give me a call and we can have a chat about it... there are various options and if you are a really good travel agent then Travel Counsellors is a really great option. And we have recently expanded into Ireland so you'd have plenty of other counsellors over there for support as well as over 500 colleagues online...lol

You can get my contact details from my webpage and can call me anytime you like honey. See if we can get you onboard!!

The thing is we don`t seem to have agencies in the UK who offer services similar to DU, YMJ or any other Disney specialist. I`ve never heard of any agent who books Disney direct and applies discounts or codes or whatever. I`m sensing a gap in the market here!
I would love to stand corrected though and there are agents out there who do great work.
I love the UG by the way, you can`t go wrong with a guide book that makes you laugh.

Some of us do make bookings where AP and other discount codes can be applied (myself included). The majority though would not have a clue what you are talking about... and as for arranging PS's....please !!!!! LOL

Its a pleasure ! Recommending Vicky is no problem, she just saved us 10% on the best internet price I could find on Disneyland Paris.
Also, she is our friend (and was our Bridesmaid in September) and I would like to see her do well. It takes a bit of bottle to "go solo" loke you guys do and I have a lot of respect for that, especially when she was in a good job with a respectable High St travel agency.

I am in a similar position, but not fully taken the plunge (still employed). I plan to break into Wedding Photography and will also promote Vicky's business in that, as I know she will do the same for me in return.

It is nice to see people succeed on their own merit and I wish Vicky all the best and hope she does well, which I am sure she will.
