I have read mixed information regarding the shark reef. Do you have to be 10 y/o to swim, or is it you must have an adult with you if you are under 10 y/o??

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks

My DS and I swam in the Shark Reef when he was 7yrs. old. He has a great time! We swam in it last year too when he was 10. I think it must be that your child knows how to swim and is with a parent/adult. It is really easy to swim in the reef because of the salt water. I generally can't float, but I can without any effort there. We went two times in a row the last trip. You do have to wear a mask and snorkel. How's your child with this? Mine has known how to swim with both of those since he was 4 or 5 and didn't have any problem. You might want to practice before going if s/he hasn't had any experience with them.

My DD was 6 when she tried it last year. She loved it! We went twice. She is a pretty good swimmer. My 4 year old wanted to try it, but after trying on the snorkel decided she couldn't breathe well and backed out after we put on all the equipment. They will let you if you are accompanied by an adult.

Thank you so much for the information. My dd will be 6 when we go. She is a good swimmer. We're gonna practice with the snorkel before we go, so she's comfortable with it.

Thanks again!princess:

We (me, DD's 7 and 9) LOVED this and did it over and over. However, my younger DD and I didn't like the snorkel at all, and we did not have to use it. The CM's didn't care at all. We just used the mask and came up to breathe. The life vest was great for my younger daughter - don't forget the vests they give you are for warmth, not floating! Have fun and take a disposable under-water camera...my best pictures from the whole trip came from there!!

my daughter did the reef when she was 5....she was a very strong swimmer and I went along with her...I think those were the only requirements...just one word of caution: that water is COLD!!!
