Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

Hi. We are planning to go to one of the water parks on our July visit (can't wait to be at WDW). Can anyone give me pointers on which water park has more areas for smaller children to enjoy - my kids are ages 8, 6, and 2?
Thanks, :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I have only been to the kids area at TL (which was great), but here are my thoughts:

It's hot in the summer and TL has lots of shade, BB does not.
BB seems to attract more teens and older kids because the slides are more "thrilling".
TL has a nice, laid back atmosphere. BB seems more like a "theme park" to me, everyone rushing to get to the slides.

This is just my personal opinion...

They both have great kids areas. However, in my opinion Typhoon Lagoon had more stuff to do for the whole family than BB did. When we went to BB, me and my youngest 2 children spent half the day waiting while DH and DS7 waited in line for Summit Plummit. I know it's a personal opinion, but we all seemed to enjoy TL more than BB. They have a great pool over by Crush N' Gusher where the little ones can play while older ones go on the ride. Plus, a lot of the slides are geared toward the whole family rather than just older family members. We also loved the lazy river at TL.

When it comes down to it, you should probably go with the theme you prefer more because I think they have done a great job at both parks in the kids areas, but my personal vote goes for TL. Hope this helps.

Just be sure to get there early by 9am if you want to go on the rides. Someone told us and they kids were able to go on everything 4 or 5 times be the crowds got there around 11am The waits after that were long. We got a tube and traveled around the lazy river till they caught up with us

We did both TL and BB last Aug. As pp mentioned there was more shade at TL. There are more thrilling slides at BB. Our DD2 seemed equally happy at both kiddie pool areas.

Our DS9 and DS6 are good swimmers, (swim team every summer).

We really enjoyed what disney calls the "pre-teen" area at Blizzard beach

We could swim/sit with DD2 in this area which only has one exit and the boys could go down the slide and use the rope tow ride and go on the "climb across the iceberg" thing and we could always see them. It gave them a little bit of freedom and us security all at the same time. We know how well our kids swim and so we felt okay being a bit away from them and still being able to look up and find them. You need to judge what is right for your family based on your kids swimming abilities.

Have a great trip.

I would say that your best bet for July is Typhoon Lagoon. The shade factor alone is a big key. We were there in June and I just remember Blizzard Beach bring extremely hot with not a lot of relief. And the sun beating off the concrete only makes it worse.

I think it all depends too on how daring your kids are and how water oriented. When people on the board described TL to me, I knew it would never do for my 7 yo DS and 2 yo DD. Both love to swim and the more daring the better. We went to BB in September and both of them loved every minute of it. Though when we go this year, I'm trying to talk everyone into trying TL, so far not a go though. I'm sure you'll have fun at no matter what you choose. But whatever your choice, GET THERE BEFORE OPENING!!!!!
