Hi Dissers,

While our family has gone multiple time to WDW, we have never gone to the water parks. We are going end of July and will take one day to do a water park but which one??
To those that have gone, can you tell me pros and cons of both?
And do they have the small “tents” to book for the day?

Thank you friends!!

We prefer BB, for us better family ride and the kid area & Teen area better. that being said there are times we just pick the first bus that comes.

Not sure how well the search function works here (don't really use it) but you'll find this topic is discussed a ton. We're huge fans of both, and in short I'll say that they're both fabulous. You won't go wrong at either one.

The biggest difference between the two is the wave pool. BB has smaller, constant waves. TL only has waves every 90 seconds or so, but it's one MASSIVE one. Both are zero entry pools, so you can bring young kids into either, just keep them in the shallow end if they can't swim.

Both have thrill slides. TL has Crush Gusher, sort of like a tube slide roller coaster...jets of water push you up a small hill, not just down. It's not THAT fast, but it's really fun. BB has Summit Plummet, a huge drop slide. It's awesome and fast. It's also wedgie inducing. :D Both have lazy rivers, which are fun. Both have family tube rides, the one at BB can hold more people (7 I think) vs TL (4 people), but TL has two of them.

You don't need to show up extra early at either. They usually open at 10am. If you show up at 9:55am that's more than enough. You can ride anything you want with no wait for about an hour, before lines start to build. They both have more than enough chairs with shade for free that you won't have trouble finding a spot. Yes, they have cabanas to rent, but IMO they're insanely expensive...like $350.

The pavement can get hot, so be mindful. They hose down most of it, but it'll get hot in spots. I despise water shoes, so I won't wear them, but some do to help with that.

Both have kiddie areas. The one at BB is a bit better defined and has a few more activities, but the one at TL is nice too.

There are stairs...lots of stairs. Be prepared to climb if you want to go on the big slides. We usually stay for 4 hours or so and are done.

They are SO much fun.

Thank you both so much. I have teenagers, so I’ll give them the information.

I forgot to ask, how are food selections?

We did both in 2018 (kids were 6 and 4) and I would have to say that we actually preferred Blizzard Beach. As mentioned above, the wave pool at TL is really aggressive. As an adult I even found it to be tiring after only a few minutes. It was not for the kids at all. I also think the slides a BB were a little better. A nice mix of family rides and singles. The chairlift to get up the "mountain" is a nice touch as well.

You really cannot go wrong, as said above, especially since you have teenagers. Blizzard Beach just slightly took it for our family. I'd glad go to either today versus being at work!

Families can be different, but my teens prefer TL. I thought they would love the slides of BB, but they prefer spending most of their time at the TL wave pool and lazy river (BB’s lazy river is too shallow to float in a tube)
The TL wave pool is miserable if you are with smaller kids at < 3’ depth as you brace yourself against the large walls of water smashing against you. But the TL wave pool it’s a lot of fun if you can stand or float at 5’+ depth and float/ride the big waves.

Both parks have the fresh mini-donuts (a must do snack!) otherwise there’s a basic QS for burgers/chicken fingers, etc.

Same kind of food at both places. We don't find much difference.

TP - we spend more time in the wave pool
BB - we spend more time on the slides

If you have the hopper pass, you can do BB then play a round of mini golf before getting on the bus (before 4 pm).

We like them both for different reasons. BB has a better kid area IMO. Also it's family raft ride is much longer and you can ride up to it on the ski lift.

TL has the water coaster and MisAdventure Falls which we fell in LOVE with last trip. The lazy river is also better. You do have to carry your tubes with you more here since it's an older park. At Blizzard Beach most of the tubes are waiting for you at the top of the stairs.

We haven't been to either one but are planning to do so this coming April...my kids are 12 and 11 and both LOVE wave pools...they love slides too but they would be happy to just hit a wave pool or lazy river all day long once the slides get super busy...and based on what I have read both parks get busy after the first hour on the slides so if we are spending time in the wave pool and lazy river then Typhoon Lagoon seems to win out...especially if we have to choose between one and the other...we shall see!

TL Imho, its a better waterpark. Best wave pool I've been in and great slides also. BB is great, but TL is a better park.

We prefer BB by a big margin, it is just more fun to us, but we do love Crush ‘N Gusher, it is the best ride(s) at either park.

Yes, after the first hour, the "big" slides will get a decently long line...about 45-60 minutes. The smaller slides won't be so bad. However, mid-day is the perfect time to hit the lazy river and wave pool, which obviously don't have lines. Late day is also a good time to do the big slides, as people start leaving mid-afternoon.

BB does have a ski lift, which is neat, but beware that it's not very efficient. It's slower than using the stairs (assuming you climb stairs at a decent pace), and stops very frequently. It can get quite a long line in the middle of the day so we almost never use it.

I sincerely thank you all for your input, I will let the girls decide.

I understand getting the bus is different, is that correct?
