Typhoon Lagoon in the afternoon in June?

I've read that it's best to get to the water parks just as they open. Well, we have only one opportunity to go and it's on a Thursday afternoon in June.
I getting to TL after noon just a bad idea? Why?

Parks tend to get very crowded in the afternoon. I have seen the time when water parks reach capacity, and close the gates.
I am not sure what the attendance levels have been so far this year, so it is pretty much just a guess. The lines actually seemed to thin out for the slides after three while we were there last June. Give it a try, and hope for the best. Good Luck!

Just something to consider - the rains in central Florida tend to come on in the afternoon. Often they include thunder and lightning, which causes the waterparks to close until they pass. That's another good reason to get to the waterparks at opening time - the weather is cooperating. June is a pretty rainy month. I hope you can figure out a way to go - the waterparks are so much fun.:D

It's also harder to find chairs and a place to set your things. You might find one here and there, but harder to find 2 together.

As others have said thunder storms would be a big reason to avoid the water parks in the afternoon. My Dh & I both worked at Busch Gardens and we use to be able to set our watch by the storms. Typically if the weather man says greater than 20% chance of rain this means you will see rain. Personally I miss the thunderstorms... I enjoy watching lightning storms safely. Remember Tampa is (or ws depending on what you read) the lightning capital of the world and Orlando also typically gets a lot of Lightning, so if you hear thunder ( even if you can not see the lightning) please get out of the water and under shelter, not a tree!

too funny. I hadn't even noticed my poetic thread title.

Thanks for the comments folks. Since the afternoon is our only option, I'll be watching the skies and hope for the best.

In June of last year we went to BB 3 afternoons getting there between 2 and 3pm. We went to the parks in the morning but by 2pm it was hot and crowded so off to the waterpark we went. We had no problem getting chairs or getting under one of the covered areas. Most people who have been there since 10am are starting to head out around 3 or 4pm. As far as the thunderstorms we had them everyday usually only for 1/2 or so. We just sat around under the covered areas with other families talking to them and to the lifeguards that would hang out during the storm. After the storm most people would be gone and we could do most of the slides with little to no wait. We would stay until it closed and then change and have a special bus pick us up and return us to Ft. Wilderness. We would be the only family on the bus and one driver actually offered to drive us right to our cabin but we had already checked out so he drove us right to the outpost to wait for our ride to the airport.

They did close the waterpark on one day and we did see someone requesting and i believe receiving a free pass for another day. One of the lifeguards said they have their own weather tracking system so are aware of how long the storms could possible last.

Sorry so long.
